Managed to squeeze some time for this Eldar Avatar of Khaine and Fire Prism commission project amidst my work loaded weeks. Finally got it in time for delivery to the client. Just as I was painting these Eldar miniatures, I am sure everyone has already hear snippets of Eldar rumours already. I am curious what the updated Eldar miniatures range would be. I am sure definitely there will be a giant walker of some sort, just like what Games Workshop is setting the trend, every race in 40k all having some sort of giant walker. Anyway, the Avatar was an interesting miniature to get started on. I was excited to paint the lava and glow effect on his body. I got the Eldar Avatar body started by painting it in Citadel Blood Red, followed by a heavy wash of Citadel Nuln Oil.

Been a busy past weeks. But I had a nice surprise last week when I found my Kickstarter Bombshell miniatures in my mailbox. Opened the package, there were lot of babes. I pledged for the Barrage level, which consisted of 10 babes and all the other bonus miniatures and accessories as well. Overall, the miniatures were of good and reasonable casting quality. The details on the miniatures were detailed and fine as well. One of my favourite babe is the Mechanic Babes. She is simply awesome! I am definitely looking forward to painting her. And the t-shirt featuring her is now my favourite t-shirt! In fact, Bombshell miniatures has just launched their online store , check it out! Cheers!

Waaagghh… Orcs and Goblins has been partying with me in The Painting Shop the past weeks. Finally I managed to complete my Orcs and Goblins commissioned miniature painting. The Orc standard and Goblin Hero were converted my client. Its more of a standard conservation and gluing it on base. Painting it was more of the usual feel of painting a standard Orcs and a standard Goblin. The other interesting miniatures that was fun to paint was the Night Goblin Command Set from Forgeworld. Assembling them up was easy and it was followed by cleaning and washing for resin miniatures. The Night Goblin standard was a bit imbalanced with the battle standard when assembled. I had to use a hair dryer to soften the banner pole slightly to adjust to have it balanced when placed on the table. The Boss on the Squig and the Shaman assembly were a breeze

This month White Dwarf is sure so tempting. Really tempting my faith in GW. Tau definitely looks so tempting and exciting. I have always wanted to collect Tau, but with so miniatures and collection on my shelves already, I guess I will just collect the Codex for now, and, or maybe when my faith is back, haha. The new White Dwarf as usual is “Picture Speaks a Thousand Words”. Well, looking at the amazing XV suits definitely makes me wanna do it for the Greater Good! haha… Well, if you are in Tau, definitely this issue will make you daze in excitement. I love the Golden Demon section when it will be my references for future projects and commission. Last of all, I think the last page of the White Dwarf definitely spawned lots of excitement and rumour! Possiblely a plastic Thunderhawk! I am thinking with the current trend of flyers GW is promoting, I am sure a Plastic Thunderhawk would definitely be a true rumour and another good reason to boost sales. Well, let’s see what will zoom in next month… cheers!

My faith is already weak in the Emperor, faith in GW seems weaker. Guess by now, everyone might have heard of the new trade policy announcement by GW recently last week or so. Seems like GW now is trying to restrict and control the sales in the US and Canada region. Although it does not really affect me, or rather it had already affected me during the GW embargo in the EU region few years back. Since then I lost my faith in the Emperor, and slowly with GW. On the good side, it brought me to the other world of other amazing miniatures since then. The US trade new ruling, though does not affect me like I mentioned earlier, but as a wargamer and painter, I felt that it’s another very sad news for fans in those affected area. I can’t seem to understand what is the take of the business strategy they are trying to adopt. As a company, I am sure every company would want a strong brand dominion in their own market. So, even if there are many online stores selling your products, you are still earning sales and spreading your products, right?

My decals ordered from Dom’s decal are finally here. Order the 15mm WW2 German markings and the SS division badge decal for my Dust Tactics miniatures. Intend to use the SS Division badge marking to differentiate the units. The decals were packed in a cardboard protected envelope when shipped, so the decals arrived in a perfect condition. Each sheet of decal was packed in a zipped bag as well, giving another protection. The symbols on the decal were layout in a most optimal design making full use of the decal paper size. I had not problem cutting out the decals and applying them (check out my earlier post on applying decals here ). They worked well just like any other good quality decals.

When I first got interested in Fantasy Flight Dust Warfare a while back, the first accessories the was needed for the game were the status tokens. There was no token available in the market for sale then. In the end, the next best choice was to make some token myself ( check out my token here ). Now Litko has released a set of 100 tokens for the Dust Warfare game ! Check it out. They are made from thick plastic and with all the status symbol on it. If you prefer a professional feel to a set of cool token and price isn’t a concern, then check out Litko . Cheers!

With my upgrades recently for my Dust Tactics Grenderiers and the motivation going, I managed to complete my Dust Tactics Sturmpioniere. I decided to go for the same colour theme with my Grenderiers as a standard uniform theme among the soldiers. Probably when I deal with the other special units or so, then I will have another set of colour scheme but following the same feel. For the upgrades, Victoria Miniatures definitely have been very effective with the ammo pouches and the combat knives. And I am running out of bitz for the pouches and knives. Definitely will be ordering more from Victoria Miniatures. Meantime, gonna start working on the Snipers and the Radio guys, at the same time, few commission project are coming up as well. Stay tuned… cheers!
