You are technically correct Darren, it is copyright infringement. However copyright infringement is generally measured in court by the degree of impact the copy has on the value, availability, and viability of the original. So long as you are not selling products to others, hindering the ability to find the original, or making it impossible to produce the original you are unlike to be prosecuted. In this case there is also a depriciable difference in quality of the copy which would actually make the GW boys laugh, well not their legal team.

It is an excelent modelding method and i'd say it would be most enthusiastically welcomed when doing bases where you might be trying to put a specific logo on each base or do an identical rock surface texture to all your miniatures. It would also be a good idea to use to make master blanks before actually making a miniature piece such as making a basic sheild face from plasticard, then doing some sculpting work to add a skull to it, before press molding it to make storm sheild with custom iconagraphy.

Alternately, instead of using green stuff for the clone, what I do is use resin. it tends to be harder and it doesn't warp when you peel it out. :D
