Battle Missions a 40k expansion review
This is a review about the new Battle Missions guide. It is a expansion for Warhammer 40k and you must have the 5th edition core rule book to use this guide. Now let’s get to the review so you the reader knows if this is a good book to have in your library.
Battle Missions adds 30 new missions to your game. Each mission opens new challenges to Generals of all sorts. Everything from raiding missions to spearhead missions adds a whole new experience to the game. This guide also has 3 special missions. 1 of the 3 special missions is Kill Team.
The Battle Missions guide also has background materials for the new missions. The guide also holds maps to help the players with new Tactics and Strategists. Battle Mission is worth the $25 dollar price tag and GW has free shipping in March. So now is a good time to get this great guide to expand your 40k experience.
Now we shall take time to review the lay out for you. The 30 mission are designed for specific armies. There are 3 missions for each army. Now the missions are basic enough for someone to play mission from another army. So a Ork player can play a Dark Eldar mission. The missions are designed for the specific armies strength, but this doesn’t mean you need that army to play that mission.
All in all, the book will become pretty much essential for the players that like to change things up. It will also be a god sent for anyone that runs tournaments and campaigns.

But how is it? The review isn't really anything I couldn't have read at the GW website.
I like it a lot. A lot of character and some pretty neat scenarios.
We are incorporating it in our next PE campaign.
While some of the missions will give an advantage to the specific race , I don't feel any of them are 'this race will always win'.
I agree that it's well worth the price.
In addition to the 3/race missions, it has 3 'generic' missions and a small guide for creating your own.
There is also a section on 'how to decide which mission to play'. It gives suggestions for choosing as well as random via d66.
The random includes the Rulebook missions too.
Im very happy with the book, though I have yet to really put any of the missions to the test.
If you have a regular opponent then I suggest you split the cost and trade off reading it. Great way to save $$ and really, not everyone needs their own copy.
Either way, goto your local store and flip through the book. IF you like running games then definitely buy it.
Hope this helps,
-John
So..uh…you guys haven't bought it yet? Is that what I'm supposed to take from this review?
Yes I own the Battle Missions guide. Who doesn’t yet.
How is it not. I'm basically telling you that this is a much needed guide. If you run a lot of games. Now like Johnny it's a best buy split up with a group, but no matter what it's still worth it.
So my views on the new battle mission book.
* All games are heavily in favour for the team their for eccept one or 2 which seemed to be a suicide mission (one of the SM missions) – only played a few but read others – no reserved for the oppenent when playing the tau missions really hurt the IG player and always getting first turn.
* The kill team needs better rules – no 2 wound models and nothing with a weapons over strengh 7 could help too. – battle suits destroy everything in this game cos of the cover (but then they did in all of the games we played – in the 3rd game i had 7 battle suits using marker tokens against his remaining 3 units on the table (part of his command squad) – was funny)
* Planetary missions – the games in here would be great for that with 3 home tiles/planets for each player and on their tiles one of their missions are played (decided before the game) on all other tiles that don’t belong to any player a normal TT game would be played.
yeah thanks for sharing it.I also like it a lot
I love this game, can't wait to play it.
This strikes me as something read directly off the back of the book it self, and strikes me as thinly veiled advertisement rather then a customer review.
