Chaos Daemons and Counts as Models

Counts as models; those words seem to breed a lot of hate and discontent on the internet. It is for that reason alone that I have been thinking twice about building a Chaos Daemon army, I play this game to have fun and to hang out with friends, I really don’t need the drama. However…. Chaos Daemons are an expensive army to collect if you use only the “official models.” For instance, I really want to run a list that is very heavy cavalry, this means Fiends of Slaanesh and Flesh Hounds of Khorne. Do you know how much those models cost?!?! Fiends are 25 cents over 22 dollars each. Flesh Hounds run 25 cents over 41 dollars for 5. On top of that they are metal models. This would make a 2000 point army cost more than my entire 4000 point Angels Encarmine army. How is this possible?
