The Deathwing Learning Curve: There is Only One…Ezekiel.

The Deathwing Learning Curve: There is Only One…Ezekiel.

When playing Dark Angels, you have to face the simple and undeniable fact that you have an old codex. Once you face that fact you can come to terms with some painful realities on the table top. The one this article will discuss is psychic powers and the cold hard truth that every single army in the Warhammer 40K universe not only has better psychic powers that you do, but they have a bigger and better variety of them from which to choose. Additionally, it seems that all of the good Dark Angel Librarians died during the destruction of Caliban and now the ranks of the Dark Angels are field with sub-par librarians that have leadership one point lower than all of their Space Marine brethren… …all of them that is except Ezekiel, Grand Master of Librarians; however,

The Deathwing Learning Curve: Deathwing Assault

The Deathwing Learning Curve: Deathwing Assault

Deathwing. The name itself sounds scary and foreboding; it sounds like a force that can take on any foe and emerge unscathed and undefeated. Unfortunately, in reality, the army is more fragile that it appears at first glance and often uses more tactical skill than brute force to win games. While a 2+/3++ is a great standard armor class and no one can deny the deadly effect of both Thunder Hammers and Missiles, the army is fragile due to the lack of numbers it can place on the board. If this was the armies only problem, then everything would be fine… …however, the army also suffers from being slow to attack and slow in the movement phase of the game. In other words, the army needs to be played more skillfully that it would at first appear to win, as it does have a few tricks up its sleeve to win games, one of these is the Deathwing Assault. Deathwing Assault!

Back on Track: Blogging is a go!

Back on Track: Blogging is a go!

The past few weeks have been extremely hectic and as a result, the blog has been dwelling in obscurity. I am hopeful that I have finally gotten a handle on my very busy new schedule and will finally be able to return to blogging. The new schedule has necessitated some changes for the blog, but fear not, the blog itself should be back to a regular schedule, even if it is a wee bit reduced schedule. Due to scheduling conflicts, I (we) have had to drop Monday from our regular post days as this day is just to hectic and stressful to even contemplate adding anything else to it. As such, we will now have regular posts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a result of the shuffle, Video Battle Reports (and the

Angels of Vengeance: Deathwing – Twelve Games In…

Angels of Vengeance: Deathwing – Twelve Games In…

Nine games down and countless to go (hopefully) with the Angels of Vengeance Deathwing. So far, it has been an absolute blast to play and even though my record is nothing to write home about being a mighty 7-2-2; the army has been one of the most fun armies I have ever played. At the same time, it has also been one of the most challenging armies I have ever played; this is because the army is not very forgiving of mistakes. I know, I know, that sounds strange when talking about an army composed primarily of guys in terminator armor carrying thunder hammers and storm shields, but it is absolutely true. The army while extremely durable is unable to deal with mistakes made by the player. What do I mean mistakes by the player? Well, I mean: Deployment – due to the fact this army is on foot, this means you must pay attention to the mission type when deploying if you want any chance at a win. Your Opponent – Know your opponents army; heavy assault, stay bunched up so you can get multiple assaults off; blast template shooting – means you want to take advantage of that two inch spacing. While their are a few more, those are the two I have found to be the most important.

Angels of Vengeance in Action: Slide Show

Angels of Vengeance in Action: Slide Show

I am tired. It was so hot yesterday, that by the time I got around to do the write-ups for the tournament this past weekend, I was exhausted. So, I have pushed off the write-up until later in the week (maybe). Instead, I have made a little slideshow of the pictures I took. This way, I don’t feel as bad about being a lazy git. So, without further ado, here is the pics! I will be taking some better pictures this week, that do justice to the army that Big Jim painted for me.
