I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Years! It was quite nice to have a day off yesterday, and my friend Dave and I got in a game of 40k. I didn’t do a full battle report, but did snap a few pics here and there throughout the game. I wanted to try out a new 1850 variant I’m considering for Adepticon, and Dave ran his ever-frightening Blood Angel assault list. As a break from my usual heavy downtown urban themed table I went with a small starport sort of thing. I’d picked up a spaceship-looking kitbash model off of eBay recently and wanted to put it on the table to see if it would work. It’s a little large and blocked a bit too much of the line of sight across the table, so it’ll probably get regulated to Necromunda terrain. We ended up playing lengthwise across the table, which theoretically sounds good for my gunline guard, but as usual the marines were in their faces almost immediately. The Blood Angel’s Stormraven and the Mordian 7th’s Vendetta circled the table (and each other) merrily gunning down the troops and tanks below. The game itself was thoroughly bloody

This past Saturday was a 1,500 40K tournament at my FLGS. It was a food drive and so you brought in canned goods and non-perishables to get in-game abilities like re-rolls, +1 strength, etc. I played Disciples of Twilight, my … Continue reading → The post Tournament Rundown: Devastation appeared first on Creative Twilight .

I am at a pickle. I am not mega happy with the CSM book, and I think a lot of people aren’t either. I deep down think it is lack luster and is really the previous book just in a fancy frock. But, I love CSM, they were my second army and I desperately want to make them work. What I have being doing is weighing up three lists from three different codexs; Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Chaos Space Marines. As you know I had Blood Angels, in fact part the army still remains in mech form; I just have no infantry. It won’t take much effort to get Space Marines. Space Wolves I’ve looked at because I like Thunderwolf Cav (who doesn’t?) and I know from experience once the Assault Squads in the B.A army have been busted out their ride they have issues. However I am not a huge S.W fan.

Back in 5th ed the Sanguinary Priest was worth the weight in gold and any Blood Angel player with his salt would take one. In 6th things have changed quite a lot for the Priest and now Blood Angel players are questioning whether it is worth taking a Sanguinary Priest or not. The Sanguinary Priest costs 50 points and has the same profile as a normal Space Marine, except the priest is WS5. Wargear is just normal stuff, though the blood chalice is the item of wargear which gives the Priest two very special rules; furious charge and feel no pain. In 5th Blood Angels were probably king of Razorspam; their vehicles were fast and could move 12″ and still fire a weapon, this would bring fire power against the enemy extremely quickly. The Angels would then disembark next turn and unleash a salvo of small arms fire followed by a charge, thanks to furious charge they would be S5 and I5. Unfortunately the above is no longer the case. No unit may charge from a vehicle unless it is an assault vehicle, so Blood Angels have the option to use a Land Raider or either a

So with the Blood Angels taking the hardest hit in 6th edition, I thought I would do a miniseries on how to make them still playable. Many Blood Angels players have already sold their armies for more competitive choices, but my brother was not one of them. He asked me to make a competitive Blood Angels list(that’s about as rare as bigfoot). Here are some opening thoughts: Before I start, note that I will not go over all the negatives of BA in 6th, those are obvious. For the Blood Angels there are a few minor, and some major, tweaks in the rules that can often

I’ve left this far too long, and now I’ve realised my memmory is getting a it hazey, but all the same here is my report from Novembers Throne of Skulls as best I can recal! Game 1 – Dan Whitten’s Blood Angels – Dawn of War, the Emperor’s Will The first game saw me up against Dan’s Blood Angels, his list included Mephiston, a Sanguinary Priest, three units of Assualt Marines, a Stormraven, a

I have never had trouble choosing an army to play or collect. In the past, I would just go with whatever army appealed to me at that particular point in time and then paint it up; or more likely, pay to have someone else paint it up for me.

1. 2+ armour save is awesome! Same as before. Power weaps got nerfed, not 2+ armour has changed. Still can be taken out via the old method; shooting. Nothing has changed. 2. Overwatch has screwed close combat armies. Bull! Overwatch effects are nothing to little. A full 10 man Tactical Squad will hit 3 times when firing 20 shots, against T4 models will wound twice. Hardly game changing
