I am still playing Warhammer 40K and I am still playing my Daemons without allies. I am really enjoying the Flying Monstrous Circus build I have been playing since right after the book released. In addition to the Keeper of Secrets and 2 Daemon Princes pictured above, I have also added a third Daemon Prince, Great Unclean One, Lord of Change, and Fateweaver to the mix. Currently, I am painting up the third Daemon Prince and the Great Unclean One as our escalation league moves into 1750 points. Now, I know the popular choice is the Bloodthirster, and I agree he is full of badassery; however… Read more »

Just had my first game with daemons and used a Bloodthirster. Reason for this guy is because i have taken a Keeper of Secrets and i do not fancy this guy as my warlord. I’ve taken two greater rewards on the Bloodthirster; i got it will not die and the 3+ armour save, so i took that funky blade of blood which gives the rampage rule. The Bloodthirster had already killed four Ravenwing bikers via vector strike and now targeted a ravenwing command squad, which has had a Libby and Sammy attached. The Bloodthirster killed the dakka banner via precision strike and murdered the rest. Only sammy reminded on two wounds, sammy went down soon after. After butchering the ravenwing command squad the bloodthirster picked on an attack bike and smacked it silly. The bloodthirster killed a about 660 points worth of ravenwing! That’s over double points back and over a quarter of the enemy army!

Over the next few days I’ll be pumping out some Daemon lists. First one I’ll be knocking out is a Daemonzilla list, everyone loves big monsters, right? Starting with the HQ then, I’ll take a Bloodthirster as this is the monster of monsters. Throw on two greater rewards for survival boosting, easy peasy. Next need some anti air support and we will get that from Daemon Princes. The Princes need to have lash of despair (S:User assault 2D6) which will damage flyers nicely, don’t forget vector strike. To take lash of despair the Prince needs to be a daemon of slaanesh. Add in wings of course and then warp forged armour to keep this dude safe.

I will start this article by saying that I am a fan of the new Chaos Daemon Codex. While it is still early, it really gives me the type of army that I like, an army with a lot of solid choices. The one sad part about the new codex is the fact that I am going to have to paint a whole lot more models as my troops choices are woefully undermanned at this point in time. While I do not mind painting, it is a wee bit disappointing as I am back to about 1250 points of playable Daemons due to the changes the codex brought. Let me say I like these changes, it will just require me to paint more….this is because… …many of the models I had already purchased an painted do not work as a cohesive “tournament” force anymore. This is because I had planned on going all Tzeentch with a few Nurgle Squads for objective holding. While that army is still a valid and playable army (thank you GW), it is not an army that is designed well enough to withstand tournament play. This is because instead of GIFTS, many of the previous powers are now Psychic Abilities and have a greater chance of being shut down. This loss of reliability coupled with a decrease in durability and hitting power means that I am scrambling to get an army together in a rather shortened time frame

So, I was planning on making my first citadel finecast purchase this weekend (and yes — I've waited a while to do so).

So, this last weekend was the Independence Day Massacre. I took second behind Wildeyedjester, like last year, and it was a pretty successful tournament. I went 3-0-2, though I got a fair number of points in my second draw. However, as usual, I spent the day or two following the tournament analyzing my list and its performance. Before I get into that, I have to tip my hat to Abbadon. That rabid psycho absolutely punked my Bloodthirster like he was a Tau Fire Warrior. 7 attacks+ 7 hits+ 7 wounds= one very dead Greater Daemon (saves having abandoned me).

Sorry, it’s not a poem. I’ve built my Daemons list around speed. One of the primary issues with Daemons is a general lack of mobility once they hit the ground. If your opponent deploys well you can often find yourself out of position, especially if they’ve made you go first and show your hand. Thus, I use the beauties that are Fiends, whose primary value over Bloodcrushers, to me, is their speed. I also enjoy a Bloodthirster and a winged Nurgle Prince. To help with this, I have incorporated what I feel is one of the most useful units in the Daemons codex in my list: the Masque. WildEyed played a Daemons player at last year’s Patriot Games who used her, and he said that it was a very annoying unit to deal with if used properly. I understand the weaknesses of the Masque, so let’s just quickly go over them.

Hey everyone, So I’ve been taken by the Blood God. All hail the Throne of Skulls, may the blood run thick…ok, maybe that was a little much. I’ve been doing nothing but build and paint minions of the Blood God since Wednesday, which is a lot of fun for me, especially because I love painting red. First off is the Daemons commission. I sat down and rolled out the Bloodletters, I’m fairly happy with how they’ve come out, but I might have to touch up some bone areas

Hey everyone, So I just wanted to share some progress on that Daemons Commission with you all. It’s about 5 hours of work to get these guys nearly finished, so I think I worked quickly and efficiently! Anyways, less talk, more pictures! First off, a Group shot: The Nurglings are a bit blurry in the group shot, so here’s a single picture of them: Next up, the Bloodthirster. He has a lot of detail you don’t see on the first go, and I’m still trying to decide if I’ve finished the chestplate or not…the picture is also taken before I got the gore on the left axe done.
