Looks like Fantasy Flight Games is putting their Games Workshop license to good use once again – they are putting out a 40k themed version of Talisman called Relic. According to Radical_Edward over at Dakka this made its debut at Gama last week. It is supposed to be coming out this summer and will come with unpainted miniature busts – I’m pretty excited about that. I think with a bit of love and work this could be a really neat and fun game. Hopefully they make it just a bit campy and not too terribly grimdark.

If you really love your hobby then you are always looking to expand it. It is similar with board games and miniature games. It is never enough. It is not because you don’t have anything to play or games that you have bored you, it is more because you wish to have more and to have variety of games. I am capable of ordering two-three games at the same time and I still have games that I have played only once or twice. After playing so many board games I discovered that what makes me play more is the thrill of learning new mechanics and discovering new ones. What makes every game great is how it plays. You can have great illustrations with amazing tokens and miniatures, but if your gaming system is bad, then that board game is probably not going to be that popular.

Recently I decided to start collecting a new Warhammer army. At first I could not make up my mind as there are new army books being published, and different armies are being remade. First I thought about collecting Tomb Kings, but there are two things that I don’t really like about them. I don’t really like desert theme based on ancient Egypt. Another thing is that although they now have new models, they still have those ugly undead horses that I really can’t stand. Those horses have to be the worst models in Warhammer in my opinion. Then I thought about collecting Orcs. However, they might be fun to play and all, but I never really enjoyed playing with them, probably as they reminded me of Skaven, as they are strong in numbers and in shooting with different machines.

Long time ago I wrote about Blood bowl board game, but for those that are not familiar with this game I will repeat myself. Blood bowl is a game of fantasy football, or American football, set in a world of Warhammer. It actually is quite silly and the Warhammer part is not that serious when it comes to the story itself. It is a game for two players played in two half times, each half time consists of eight rounds. What makes Blood Bowl interesting is the fact that you can choose your team from a number of Warhammer races and different teams. Each team has something special and each player is different. Blood Bowl is quite complex game although it is quite easy to learn to play. What makes it complex are different skills that players posses and rules for different tournaments. Blood Bowl is very interesting especially if you play it as a campaign and play it during a course of few sessions. What makes it interesting is that your players become better every time they play a game and your team is generally becoming stronger, that is if your players are still alive after the game

How many times did you have a trouble finding enough people to play a board game or anything else that take more than just two to play? This has to be the most common problem when it comes to this particular hobby. It is not that you don’t have anyone to play with, but rather more factors are involved. First of all, time is essential. Some board games take from 4 to 6 hours to finish and some people might think that it is a bit exhausting. On the other hand, not everyone can spare that much time on a board game. But if you forget about time, there are still few major problems when it comes to gathering to play something. One of the most important things is what kind of game are you playing and are all of your friends interested in that kind of game. Some people are not even willing to try something new if they are not interested into certain subject or are not fans of certain kind of setting

This has to be the weirdest, funniest and brainless game I have played in a while. When I first saw this game I thought that guy who was explaining the rules to us was joking. After only a two-minute rules explanation we started to play and I couldn’t believe how awesome and simple this game is. At first you might think that it is all about luck, but later you realize that it requires some skill and practice in order to play I it well. Micro Mutants is a game for 2 to 4 players created by Nexus Games. It is very hard to explain this game in one word, as it is quite unique. General idea is to destroy your opponents and their bases. What is funny about this game is that each player takes control of one of the four alien races of insects that fight for survival and domination. Each of these races are unique and quite interesting, there are even Russian and American bugs. Each race is different and they all have unique special abilities and unique units that are used during the game

Warships usually used to sail alone or in a fleet with a number of ships. However, on the High Seas ships are so big that they don’t need anyone else as they are like floating cities. As it may be, these ships are too big to accomplish simple tasks, move throw narrow passes or even come close to the land because of the shallow waters. That is when smaller ships or in this case ships smaller then the enormous warships of the High seas enter the scene. These smaller ships are easier to maneuver around and complete simple tasks. However, not everyone is counting on a help of a smaller ship, some captains have an ace in their sleeve. In this game there are few auxiliaries available to your use. Only the Shadewraith has none, but all the other ships have one or two auxiliaries. The most common auxiliary is the Cog

I have to honest and say that I am not really sure how I managed to win this scenario with the Dreadfleet. From the beginning this scenario seemed to be a bit of balance I the favor of the Great Alliance. However, a set of circumstances helped me to achieve victory. This scenario is one of those where you will show how good captain you are. This scenario s everything but easy for both captains as both of them have to make some difficult decisions in order to survive and achieve their goals. The whole point of this scenario is to get as many trophies

You might think that organizing tournaments is easy, but you are wrong. It is quite difficult and takes a lot of time and patients. I will talk about organizing bigger tournaments that usually last for two days. This article will be about the organization in general, rather than going into detail about certain things. In later articles I will try to summaries all that is necessary for someone to host a tournament in order to help new organizers to host a tournament. How long your tournament will last depends on what kind of game are you playing. Some games can be played during only one day, but some, like Warhammer, last too long in order to finish in just one day. When it comes to tournament you will want to play between five and six games and that takes a lot of time. One of the biggest problems when it comes to tournaments is how many players are taking part in it and where your tournament will be held. If you can fit all your players in your local gaming club, do it

What is your definition of a hobby? Would you call it a hobby if you collect and play board games? Wouldn’t you actually be a collector? I believe that there is a thin line between these two things. However, I believe to be a hobbyist, as I take this thing to entirely new level. I my opinion hobby has to be something you enjoy a lot doing and time spent doing it is always well spent. I am willing to spend all the resources I have onboard games, tabletop games, accessories, gaming material and painting material. One of the first things that caught my attention when I first saw my first tabletop game was the idea of painting and converting miniatures and not playing the game as it is. For the long time before I started playing anything I used to paint and assemble different aircraft and naval models. There was always something interesting in making different things from different smaller and bigger pieces.
