Obliterator Daemon Prince WIP

Obliterator Daemon Prince WIP

Damn, I haven’t been here for a while. It’s been rough 2 months for me. I missed Tau release and some other things. So I decided to do at least something and furthermore to show off a little. Here are photos of my latest creation. An Obliterator Daemon Prince for my Iron Warriors army.

4/16/13: Granesh’s College Senior Art Show

4/16/13: Granesh’s College Senior Art Show

Hey guys! So the last week and a half or so has been incredibly busy, but its all been for good reason. Monday was the opening of our Senior Art Exhibition, the main culmination of my college career. I gotta say, with Miniatures as my main focus, I’m pretty happy with my work that made it in. And, of course, my pieces that made it in! I’ve gotten a ton of positive comments from viewers and guests, and kinda enjoy breaking gallery rules by telling people to pick up the pieces and check them all out. After all, they are game pieces, so they’re meant to be handled! So glad to have that over with! I’ve got a big project due later this week, amongst other pieces, so the hobby front is going to be a little slow. Nevertheless, I’ve got Space Wolves, a Valkyrie, and a Malifaux crew that needs to get finished! For a little sneak peek, though, here’s a piece I’m working on for school. I’ve got one more to finish, so I’ll be sure to show you all how that set turns out! Stay tuned folks, there’s some awesome stuff coming this way soon! Granesh

4/8/13: Finished: Heldrake of Nurgle

4/8/13: Finished: Heldrake of Nurgle

Hey guys! So I sat down this weekend and found some time to finish that Nurgle Heldrake commission! I’ve gotta say, this model is incredibly fun to paint, albeit a tad tedious at times…so much…trim…but I digress… The client wanted a good ol’ fashioned Nurgle theme with a swampy base, so I’ll let the pictures tell the story! His little bony tail is a nice touch on the model, as it adds more color to the piece. Can’t go wrong with that Baleflamer! Eye see you! One of three sickly looking eyeballs on the model! The base was incredibly simple to do. The ground is just black lava, while the swamp was achieved by painting the base the desired green color. After it’d dried, I applied a coat of gloss varnish, followed by a coat of Elmer’s White glue. When that had nearly dried, I took the butt of a brush and created ripples and rifts in the water. Finally, a second coat of gloss varnish was applied! The bubbles are a mix of metal BBs and the back end of plastic skulls. The foliage is various Army Painter tufts and the bristles off an old crappy brush! And, for good measure, a bird’s eye view of some unfortunate Guardsmen about to become charred messes! Whew! The next three weeks are going to be insane, with projects and graduation looming in the distance. But next up is a Valkyrie and some Space Wolves! Stay tuned! Granesh

Army Evolution: Chaos – The 2nd Incarnation

Army Evolution: Chaos – The 2nd Incarnation

Wiser men than I, from a diverse set of backgrounds and occupations have said in one way or another than in order to succeed, in order to be successful, you must evolve and/or adapt in order to stay abreast of change. H.G. Wells said it like this, “adapt or perish, now as ever, is nature's inexorable imperative.” Whether you or I like it, the Chaos Daemons have changed. Gone are the days of Fatecrusher, Flamer/Screamer Spam, or Fearless and Eternal Warrior Cavalry Lists. The new codex has ushered in dynamically different book that plays nothing like its predecessor, in terms of style or even model count. Personally, this has led to dramatic changes with my Old Chaos Daemon Army; the first of which is I am now calling it my Chaos Army…. Read more »

Thor’s Workbench: Heldrake WIP (Update #2)

I know Rob @ Warhammer39,999 loves it when I do updates to models that have made seemingly little progress and all but here’s an update on my Heldrake :P Seriously though, I do these little updates to keep my motivation … Continue reading → The post Thor’s Workbench: Heldrake WIP (Update #2) appeared first on Creative Twilight .

Heretic: Thinking about Huron Blackheart

Heretic: Thinking about Huron Blackheart

I’ve successfully assembled almost 35 Zombies/Cultists, and that got me thinking. I have wanted to try some CSM lists with Huron Blackheart, but I want to bring my Nurgle contingent along. I have come up with a list that includes a sprinkling of my Death Guard (ok its a Sorcerer and 30 Cultists) to go along with Huron and my Red Corsairs. The idea is 2 blobs, one fearless from Blackheart, the other caddying the nurgle Sorcerer (note, I might shave 15 points and give him a spell familiar), 4 Rhinos full of Marines, 2 squads of Havocs, and then some Heldrakes. Type Unit Cost HQ Huron Blackheart 160 HQ Sorcerer 60 Nurgle 15 Force Axe 0 Mastery Level 3 50 Sigil of Corruption 25 Palanquin of Nurgle 40 Troops Cultists 30 Cultists 130 3 Heavy Stubbers 15 Troops Cultists 30 Cultists 130 3 Flamers 15 Troops Chaos Space Marines 140 10 Marines Power Axe 15 Gift of Mutation 10 2 Melta Guns 20 Rhino 35 Troops Chaos Space Marines 10 Marines 140 Lightning Claw 15 Plasma Pistol 15 Gift of Mutation 10 2 Plasma Guns 30 Rhino 35 Troops Chaos Space Marines 5 Marines 75 Power Sword 15 Gift of Mutation 10 Plasma Gun 15 Rhino 35 Havoc Launcher 12 Troops Chaos Space Marines 5 Marines 75 Power Maul 15 Gift of Mutation 10 Plasma Gun 15 Rhino 35 Havoc Launcher 12 Fast Attack Heldrake 170 Baleflamer Fast Attack Heldrake 170 Baleflamer Heavy Support Havocs 5 Havocs 75 4 Autocannons 40 Heavy Support Havocs 5 Havocs 75 4 Autocannons 40 This is admittedly more take two, move on than I like, particularly in lacking a big threat. I can infiltrate the Rhino with the 10 man melta squad, allowing me to be reactive and aggressive against heavy unit deployment. If I get 1-2 more infiltrates, i can get my other rhinos even closer to my opponent, fulfilling their purpose faster and placing them better. Two squads of Havocs sit in back along with the Sorcerer and his blob in cover, Lord and his blob deploy more aggressively, depending on the mission. 2 min size CSM squads, not likely to kill all that much, but can tie up a unit in combat (I take ccw/bp on the normal guys).

Thor’s Workbench: Heldrake in Progress (WIP #1)

I absolutely love the Heldrake. It’s been one of my most consistently performing units game to game and I like the model as well. It has also been a model I have not been looking forward to painting because there’s … Continue reading → The post Thor’s Workbench: Heldrake in Progress (WIP #1) appeared first on Creative Twilight .
