Well after a game of 40K on Thursday night, Jason was willing to give something new a try, so I introduced him to a game of Warmachine/Hordes. I only have 1 army for each and I knew Jason, being a Black Templar fan, would enjoy the Protectorate of Menoth, so I played my Circle of Orobos Hordes army. We played a 25pt Caster Kill game just to get him used to the rules. He used High Exemplar Kreoss as his caster with a Crusader and Repenter as his jacks, followed by a full Choir, min Flameguard with unit attachment, min Exemplar Errants and Deliverer Sunburst Crew as troops. For his Solos he chose a Vassal of Menoth and a Vassal Mechanik.
Today we get our inspiration from a Fantasy RPG perspective, enjoy! Remember, if you have made or found a cool gaming motivational poster, send it to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will add it to one of the next Motivational Mondays! -BJ
The army build continues apace, and an unseasonably warm day Sunday allowed me to get a fair number of miniatures primered, which was rather nice! I snapped a couple pictures as well – the infantry ended up being essentially uninteresting looking blobs of black, but there the vehicles and suchlike show enough detail to warrant a post… I wasn’t overly excited about GW’s webway portal – I was really hoping for an actual scenery piece, rather than a repainted vortex template. That being the case, I banged out a quick version of my own using several remainder raider rudders (say that five times fast!).
Tabletop World did recently release a guard tower at their online store and it’s a great tower full of details and would fit perfectly to Warhammer Fantasy Battle. Here is their announcement. In dark medieval times, every city had to defend itself. Buildings like Guard Tower enable soldiers to spot the enemy on time in [...]
Because of the positive response to my previous article about Warhammer Fantasy, I’ve decided to do another, further chronicling the lessons I’ve learned from delving into the game. This article will focus on some helpful hints for the new Fantasy player and how to avoid some common pitfalls. I’ll also go over some basic strategies [...]
Like pretty much everyone else who wargames, when the new Fantasy Rulebook hit my local store I stroked my imaginary beard (What you didn’t?) and fulfilled my curiosity. I spent a whole morning reading the Rulebook, referred to me from hence forth as the Rules Tome, and I walked away with an appreciation for how [...]
If you have played even a small amount of Warhammer 7th, you have had the experience of fighting with magic, whether it was the full power of a Slann, or the Incantations of the Tomb Kings. This edition we see a change to almost all the aspects of magic in the Warhammer world. First we [...]
Or “Why the problem with wargaming is you” Have you ever heard this question? I’m sure you have: “Why aren’t there more girls who play wargames?” Now, I’ve got to say that there certainly are women who play wargames. Just on a quick trawl of the popular pocasts, we have Nicole “Total Fangirl” Wakelin on [...]

From the moment I had my first read of the new Beasts book, I knew I’d be fielding a Cygor pretty regularly. While it isn’t the close combat monster that the Ghorgon is, and doesn’t have the movement of the Jabbersclythe, it can mess up a magic phase pretty well, and more importantly to me, [...]
