The History of the Horus Heresy – A panel with Graham McNeil, Alan Bligh, Dan Abnett and Alan Merrett. The seminar focused on how the Horus Heresy story was developed and how it really was quite by accident that even got started. Chapter approved early 1988 Alan Merritt told how the first mention of the Horus Heresy happened because the Chapter Approved book because they needed to fill a spot on the page.
Hey guys! I am not going to even try to insult you by giving excuses why I haven't posted for so long. I just didn't warhammer (is it a verb now?) much these last few months so I didn't have anything to write about. I've been mainly meeting with my mates on weekends, playing board games (mainly Fantasy Flight games) and that's a pretty good pastime if you ask me. Also, after the initial excitement of 6th ed., my interest kinda died down for reasons I don't care to explain right now. Read the full story…
When I first got interested in Fantasy Flight Dust Warfare a while back, the first accessories the was needed for the game were the status tokens. There was no token available in the market for sale then. In the end, the next best choice was to make some token myself ( check out my token here ). Now Litko has released a set of 100 tokens for the Dust Warfare game ! Check it out. They are made from thick plastic and with all the status symbol on it. If you prefer a professional feel to a set of cool token and price isn’t a concern, then check out Litko . Cheers!
Earlier in the year I had a chance to play Fantasy Flight’s Bloobbowl Team Manager, and I have to say, I loved it. Simple rules and fast paced gameplay combined with the inherent comedy of Bloodbowl make for a win. The only thing that I felt missing was my beloved undead. But ho! What’s this? The new Sudden Death expansion is due out shortly, with three new teams, undead, dark elf and vampire. You can read about it here , but here’s the jist of it: Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Sudden Death, a bone-breaking, pulse-pounding expansion for Blood Bowl: Team Manager – The Card Game ! This death-defying expansion brings a host of options to the pitch, including three new teams, new Contract payouts, new enchanted balls, and more. The Dark Sorcery Syndicate union features dabblers in forbidden magics who just don’t know when to stay down. The undead Champions of Death tear up the pitch – sometimes literally as they raise new zombies and skeletons from the corpses of former Blood Bowl players. The vampires of the Black Fangs are always thirsty for victory (and blood). And the Dark Elves of the Naggaroth Nightmares are happy to give both teams plenty of fresh corpses with which to play
I managed to have 2 games of Zombicide at my buddy place few weeks back. I must say, it made my regret grew deeper for not getting it at Kickstarter. Even though it will be available later on, but without those special goodies, it just simply don’t feel right, haha. Anyway, first impression of the game and its content was good. The miniatures were well moulded with details. The details were still considerable good for a board game level but not at a level compared to Games Workshop standards. The printed cards and token were nicely crafted. If you need sleeves to protect your deck of cards, be sure to get Fantasy Flight yellow series sleeves that will be a sure fit. The game boards were nicely printed as well, the only concern was the game boards’ warping and subjected to wear and tear with frequent plays.
Managed to squeeze some time amid my commission paintings and work deadline to deal with the Dust Warfare Tokens. Had mine first intro demo game of Dust Warfare few weeks back. I must its rules were refreshing and interesting comparing to GW’s which I have been messing with all these years. Definitely will be playing more games and waiting for my orders of walkers to come. For the game play, you will need tokens to represent the different state which your troops is in. Get shot at, supressed token, enemies moving near you, reaction token… and a whole lot of other tokens needed as well. There isn’t any token available for sale. Its only given as template at the back of the Dust Warfare book, where you can use to create the tokens. I have emailed Dust before asking will there be official tokens available in the near future, seem like not.
Looks like Fantasy Flight Games is putting their Games Workshop license to good use once again – they are putting out a 40k themed version of Talisman called Relic. According to Radical_Edward over at Dakka this made its debut at Gama last week. It is supposed to be coming out this summer and will come with unpainted miniature busts – I’m pretty excited about that. I think with a bit of love and work this could be a really neat and fun game. Hopefully they make it just a bit campy and not too terribly grimdark.
The Zerg swarm is preparing for a massive invasion of the Terran worlds, they will ravage and consume everything in their way until nothing remains. The Terrans are oblivious to this fact because they are in the middle of a civil war to decide who will rule the human people. And the mysterious Protoss, ever observant, are waiting for their chance to strike from the shadows… Welcome to Starcraft: The Boardgame ! Another boardgame successfully converted from a computer game into a tabletop experience by Fantasy Flight Games . In this game, 2 to 6 players will take on the roles of mighty leaders who lead their people into victory. There is no diplomacy out here in the coldness of space… only war! Almost everybody in the world knows about the Starcraft computer game and its three warring races: the Terrans (space faring humans with guns, big tanks, walker robots, flamers…) the Zerg (insectoid type aliens that share a hive mind, they corrupt and mutate everything they touch)
