One Week to go: Discovering the Evidence Modelling/Painting Contest

One Week to go: Discovering the Evidence Modelling/Painting Contest

Yes we’re coming down to the last week for the Modelling/Painting Contest that I’m running over at the Wyrd Forums. I seems most people are holding off on what they are doing for the last week or few days as a few people have stated that they don’t want someone else to take their ideas. So with that remember to get your entries in and if you want you can post Work In Progress as well to give us all something to look at and to marvel at what your doing. If you missed it before here are the details again. **** You have until 11.59pm on 7th of July Australian Eastern Standard Time to have your entries in **** What you have to do: Finished Counters go in the Contest Thread . We can have Work in Progress photos in the Contest Feedback thread . You can submit one group of counters only. You can post individual shots and an combind shot. To verify the photos are yours, you are required to take 1 photo with your Counters in front of a monitor with my website http://www.talesfromthewarzone.com .

I Like the Pretty Eyes

I Like the Pretty Eyes

Yes that’s right, With any dreamer crew you want to have Coppelius… The idea behind the Coppelius is what I really like with the tentacled, creature who comes for your eyes fits in really well with my love of all things Lovecraft. Just a bit on the images that I get from this figure… He does fit into the nightmare idea seeming to be a cross between The Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth and a Lovecraftian nightmare. Also if you do some research on the name Coppelius it’s from a German Short Story called Der Sandmann (The Sandman) written by E. T. A. Hoffmann (see the link to the Guild) who it was said would steal the eyes of children who wouldn’t go to bed and feed them to his own children who lived in the moon. So how can you go wrong with something like that which I can use both in my Guild when I get Hoffman and the Neverborn… So enough with my love of the horror stuff and here’s some more mobile phone photos for you to look. I didn’t want to fall back on to the same old colours that I’ve been doing so when looking through my paints I can up with Nauseating Blue for the pants, a thin mix for the blue skin and Vermin Brown for the coat. Even though he can be taken with the Guild I didn’t want him to be in Guild colours. I also went with a couple of different Reds for his inner tentacles and mouth going from a Mechrite Red through to final Highlights with Blood Red.

Discovering the Evidence Modelling/Painting Contest

Discovering the Evidence Modelling/Painting Contest

If any of you guys have looked on the Wyrd Forum you might notice that I’ve started a Modelling/Painting Contest over on the Wyrd Forum. Here’s what it’s all about. Ok, first up this contest is run by me and not by Wyrd. They have given me permission to run it on the forums but that is all Wyrd has to do with it. With Malifaux apart from the great models we have numerous counters that we need for games. I will be starting off with this contest to make up 4 themed Destroy the Evidence counters. I am looking for anything that fits in with any faction. For Example I’m currently working on my ones which will have Phillip Tombers Diary, a Map Sonnia has made when travelling out to where the Red Star hit, an Ortega bad of Gremlin Skinning Equipment and some polaroid photos of Lady Justice. **** You have until 11.59pm on 7th of July Australian Eastern Standard Time to have your entries in **** What you have to do: Finished Counters go in the Contest Thread .

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Next off the painting table is the start of a new faction for me in Malifaux with the Neverborn. I’ve started with the Dreamer’s crew and will be branching into Pandora as well for something different but she has yet to arrive. So far I have only painted up 3 Daydreams and 2 Stitched Together but the one thing that I’m doing is that I haven’t done before is creating my own Green Stuff bases. As with the Dreamer you have his influence in Malifaux pulling things in and out of reality I wanted to have the rift they are coming through on the base which I’ve tried to pull off and also I’ve attempted to do some Source Lighting from there as well that you can see on the Stitched Together. I also have the bases for the Twins ready for when they arrive this week and have been working on something different for the Dreamers base. So to see the tests I did with the bases look at the unpainted and painted versions below.

Kirai me a River Results

Kirai me a River Results

So it’s been 4 days since I went to Kirai me a River in Sylvania and what a great day it was. As the last tournament that I went to there was an over abundance of Guild turning up this time it was an over abundance of Resurrectionists but for something completely strange there was not a single double up on masters. So for the day we had Ophelia, Kirai, McMourning, Nicodem, Semus, Colette, Lilith and Pandora which is a good spread of crews and odd that there were no Guild at all as generally there will be at least one of them. Remember to click on the images for larger versions So from that lot we had 3 games where I faced Kirai, Collette and Pandora. Kirai was interesting to play as I badly chose schemes and since we were slow at playing the game with all the summoning going on we only reached turn 2 before time ran out and I was unable to assassinate Kirai but and if I remember correctly I lost 6-2 Second up was Collette which I knew was a fast crew and as we had a shared destroy the evidence I had to beat Collette to the neutral evidence and get it if I can survive against the Duet. So since we were going for evidence I chose Breakthrough and Claim Jump since I had my 3 counters in that section of the board. This was a game that was going to be a fight over the neutral evidence. I surprisingly managed to get 2 Necropunks to it in the first turn followed by 2 dogs for back up as Steve got the Duet coming for me. With the 2 Necropunks there within range of the Duet it lost it’s fast and he was able to kill one but the Hard to Die came into play leaving it sitting on the evidence
