Hi all Here is one of my oldest WIP works Spellscape Miniatures blog
First up big props to GW Australia for some excellent customer service. A new High Elf army book is already on its way out to me to replace the damaged one I recieved the other day, and I get to keep the damaged one which saves me the cost of returning it. Thanks GW thats awesome. First run with the new High Elves will hopefully be in a fortnights time, and then again (if I can get a leave pass) at my next WHFB tournament Horned Rat VI. As stated Im using the new book as an incentive for stripping, repainting and rebasing my entire High Elf collection. The new paint scheme will mirror that of my Dwarfs – Ultramarine Blue, Goblin Green & Scab Red. Luckily I have A LOT of unpainted High Elves to practice on starting with 10 IOB Swordmasters. The new scheme a WIP and still pretty messy
The question often comes up, “What is a good model or formation to add to my army for Apocalypse.”
A review of Stronghold Terrain’s medieval/fantasy townhouse fronts, enriched with some mild eye candy and finished off with a plea for using fronts and facades in your tabletop games. At the 2012 Tactica convention I bought a set of townhouse fronts from Stronghold Terrain for my Gierburg gaming board. Soon after I completed the collection with the other two remaining pieces from the range: the Tavern front and the Warehouse front. Unfortunately though, all three products are currently OOP and no longer available from the Stronghold webshop. For kicks and nostalgia, you can see the products below as they were originally shown on the Stronghold Terrain website. The Townhouse fronts, Tavern front and Warehouse front set as they were depicted at Stronghold Terrain ‘s webshop As you can see on the photos these models are not just facades like e.g. those from Geboom’s wonderful Amsterdam project . The fronts are ca. 3,5 cm deep (or “thick”) and are equally nicely detailed on the sides as they are on the fronts
Forge World will be releasing to new Realm of Battle Boards at the Forge World Open House tomorrow. The Crashed Thunderhawk board clocks in at 90GBP (about $ 135).
Waaagghh… Orcs and Goblins has been partying with me in The Painting Shop the past weeks. Finally I managed to complete my Orcs and Goblins commissioned miniature painting. The Orc standard and Goblin Hero were converted my client. Its more of a standard conservation and gluing it on base. Painting it was more of the usual feel of painting a standard Orcs and a standard Goblin. The other interesting miniatures that was fun to paint was the Night Goblin Command Set from Forgeworld. Assembling them up was easy and it was followed by cleaning and washing for resin miniatures. The Night Goblin standard was a bit imbalanced with the battle standard when assembled. I had to use a hair dryer to soften the banner pole slightly to adjust to have it balanced when placed on the table. The Boss on the Squig and the Shaman assembly were a breeze
Looks like a Night Scythe with a body kit.. Necron Night Shroud Bomber
In honor of the new Abbadon vs Lokken model that was just shown off by Forgeworld, I have a thought up a fun way to start a heresy era force without having to delve into Warhammer 30k. The idea is just after the video promo… The first thing I thought when I saw the model was “Wow, I found my Abbadon model.” Indeed, one of the main reasons I have not run Abbadon is because I hate his model. That also means I’ve never built a chosen-as-troops list. I presume you just sort of maximize damage output. I had the idea in the following way. First I thought, well you’d have to chaos-ify him a bit. But then it struck me that you could do Abbadon as is, with units of Sons of Horus as chosen, and a unit of justaterin terminators in a land raider proteus (which basically has the same armaments as the CSM LR). Of course, I still want to include a blob of 30 Cultists and a lord in the backfield to sit on an objective, so for that I’d probably buy 3 squads of Guardsmen, give them 3 flamers, stick a Legion Champion in it.
These are good times to be a fan of the Horus Heresy.
