Scenario – No Retreat (Defending) Game 2 up against Ken Camel an extremely nice guy from Canada, well everyone from Canadas nice really, but Ken is too and good to play against. The terrain – US deployed to bottom of picture, you can see the objectives
CTA is over for another year and it was a good 2nd day for me – I got slaughtered in Game 4 a 1-6 loss but then got a 6-1 win in Game 5 finishing on 17 for the tournament putting me I think up in the top 1/3 of the field; although the field was pretty packed at the points level. I also managed to win the award for 'Best Historical Account' which was a great surprise.
(pictures should all expand out) Game 1 – Encounter (Attacking)
Day 1 is all done and a good time had by one and all. Managed a win, a draw and a loss so not bad especially up against other infantry armies every time. Win came playing Cauldron as the defender, other two games I was attacking. Slideshow is a collection of pics of some of the table set ups and of other games going on during my own match-ups.
Another test run of our Panzershrek Doubles list the other night up against Tom who was taking on the role of two players and bringing a Guards Tankovy list against us – with 2 Platoons of KV1s and 2 of T34′s plus some AA in the Hasty Attack Scenario. Battlefield Set Up – Germans on right hand long table edge, Soviets on Left.
Well rather than play a 1v1 1500pt Mid War battle last night I ended up in a 4 player free all with everyone bringing 2000pts.
Played my first game of V3 FOW last Thursday with Jeremy and I trying out the respective halfs of our possible doubles tournament list for Panzershrek in July.
Panzershrek X vs. US Paras & British Tank Company Scenario – Witches Cauldron Role – Attacker The game board emphasising the smaller deployment area of the defending British who began in prepared positions. Random Deployment turned out to be very lucky for us with all of our forces (less reserves) starting off in the same table two table quarters (at bottom of picture). US Paras occupy a half-circle defensive perimeter around the edge of the village. The objectives are both located on the outskirts but close enough that infantry in the buildings can contest them from within hard cover. Our forces deploy. Fallschirm and Tigers (with CHQ) deployed in cover ready to advance. The Artillery and a single Platoon of Mortars were deployed to the top right of this picture.
Finished my first FOW tournament yesterday. Had a lot of fun, played some great games, meet some good people and thoroughly enjoyed myself despite my teammate and I finishing dead last Going to be posting detailed battle reports from the tournament over the next week or so, so stay tuned. First up though I thought Id share some random images from the weekend. Unfortunately about half of the photos I took were out of focus – honestly my phone takes better ones – so many of the ones I really wanted weren’t any good. (All images should expand out when clicked on) Our army My HH 3rd Div Fallschirmjager and Jeremy's Tiger Company from Hammer & Sickle. Winner of best painted prize He did the outlining by hand using a finebrush, no dry or flat brushing – just awesome. Player in question was only a young fella too from the Hutt Valley Gaming Club. He and his team mate thrashed our team in Game 4 on Sunday. After seeing these I realise just how @#$ my own Sdkfz’s are. They are going to be paint stripped and re-done asap
