Army Lists: Grey Knights ‘No Spam’ – 2,000 points

Another ‘no spam’ army for you guys. I thought it would be nice to follow on from Chaos Daemons with Grey Knights. Don’t ask if this is any good though, it’s very elite! Grey Knights ‘No Spam’ – 2,000 points HQ Grand Master – nemesis halberd, rad grenades & psychotroke grenades Librarian – nemesis halberd, might of titan, sanctuary & the shrouding Troops 6 x Terminators – psycannon, 1 x nemesis daemon hammer, 1 x nemesis warding stave & 2 x nemesis halberds 6 x Terminators – psycannon, 1 x nemesis daemon hammer, 1 x nemesis warding stave & 2 x nemesis halberds 5 x Strike Squad – psycannon 5 x Strike Squad – psycannon Fast Attack Stormraven – twin-linked lascannon & twin-linked multi melta Stormraven – twin-linked lascannon & twin-linked multi melta Heavy Support Dreadknight – heavy incinerator Dreadknight – heavy incinerator Fortifications Aegis Defence Line – quad gun Total: 2 ,000 As mentioned at the start of the post, this is an elite army, so every loss is going to count. The idea is the Grand Master brings some extra abilities to the table such as scout the Terminators if you go second and this will allow for a turn 1 charge. Or make those Dreadknight troops if playing objective games. What about giving those Terminators counter-attack? Depending on how you use the G.M’s abilities depends upon deployment; really you want the Terminators on foot or you want to keep things hidden until they come in. What you could do is deploy the ADL forward and scout the Terminators behind it, sure they have 2+ armour but now they have 4+ cover as well. The G.M will give one unit psychos and rads while the Libby can protect both units with shrouding and stealth – that’s a 3+ cover behind the aegis now and any units trying to assault the Terminators will be taking dangerous terrain tests. The Dreadknights will have to deploy as far forward as they can to get into the battle quickly, hopefully they can be in the fight by turn 2, though turn 3 is realistic. Strike Knights just camp and lay down dakka

I win roll-off for going first. No night-fighting 🙁 I deploy the Aegis on the left middle, with the 12 man Firewarrior team manning the Aegis, and the 2 Hammerheads on either side of the Firewarriors. Broadside go in a ruin. Crisis teams hide behind terrain on either side of the Fire warriors.Ethereal goes in the open in front of the Aegis 🙂 He sets up his purifiers behind a large LOS limiting/blocking piece of terrain where his objective is on the far right(opposite side of the majority of my force). His dreadknights go in the middle, and the Pallidins(both squads) go far left. Vindicare infiltrates onto the top of the bastion(just used as a piece of terrain, not actually a bastion) -For Grand Strategy the Purifiers and far right Dreadknight become scoring He seizes…great…. GK TURN 1 Farthest Dreadknight(scoring) shunts up.

1/10/13: Kapitan Ivanka Coteaz and Some Designs

1/10/13: Kapitan Ivanka Coteaz and Some Designs

Hey hey hey! So just a quick post today, with my final semester of school starting up again, time for painting has been a little slow. That, coupled with being busy down at the shop, means that I’ve been struggling to find time to sit down and paint. Never fear! When I have been painting, its been gold! This is Neil's counts-as Inquisitor Coteaz for his Femme Fatale GK Henchmen army I should have had finished a while ago. The model is Kapitan Ivanka Kurganova from the Raging Heroes line and, I have to say, its a gorgeous sculpt. The model is really well done, and there's lots of little details and effects that really make this a fun piece to work on.

Battle Report: Grey Knights vs Space Marines – 2,000 points

Battle Report: Grey Knights vs Space Marines – 2,000 points

Popped down the Vine Inn Gamers club on Sunday. Not only did I get some Magic in, but also got a 2k game of 40k in as well 🙂 Thought I would use my G.K as not used them for ages. Been loving the Daemons too much! :). Grey Knights ‘Purifier Order’ – 2,000 points HQ Castellan Crowe Inquisitor Coteaz Inquisitor – psyker Troops 5 x Purifiers w/ Rhino – 2 x psycannons, nemesis halberd & 2 x nemesis daemon hammers 5 x Purifiers w/ Rhino – 2 x psycannons, nemesis halberd & 2 x nemesis daemon hammers 5 x Purifiers w/ Rhino – 2 x psycannons, nemesis halberd & 2 x nemesis daemon hammers 5 x Purifiers w/ Rhino – 2 x psycannons, nemesis halberd & 2 x nemesis daemon hammers 5 x Purifiers w/ Rhino – 2 x psycannons, nemesis halberd & 2 x nemesis daemon hammers 5 x Purifiers w/ Rhino – 2 x psycannons, nemesis halberd & 2 x nemesis daemon hammers 3 x Servitors – 3 x plasma cannons 3 x Servitors – 3 x plasma cannons Heavy Support Dreadnought – 2 x twin-linked autocannons + psybolt ammo Dreadnought – 2 x twin-linked autocannons + psybolt ammo Dreadnought – 2 x twin-linked autocannons + psybolt ammo Space Marines – 2,000 points HQ Librarian – terminator armour Elite Dreadnought – 2 x twin-linked autocannons Dreadnought – 2 x twin-linked autocannons 8 x Terminators – assault cannon & chain fist Troops 10 x Tactical Marines w/ Razorback – meltagun & multi melta – Razorback w/ twin-linked plasma gun & lascannon 10 x Tactical Marines w/ Razorback – plasma gun & plasma cannon – Razorback w/ twin-linked lascannon 10 x Tactical Marines w/ Razorback – plasma gun & plasma cannon – Razorback w/ twin-linked lascannon 5 x Scouts – sniper rifles & camo cloaks Fast Attack Stormtalon – cyclone missile launcher Heavy Support 5 x Devastators – 2 x missile launchers & 2 x lascannons Game: Big Guns Never Tire + Hammer & Anvil – night fighting is not active Deployment Five objectives had been placed; Jon put two about 12″ from the centre and another in the centre his side of the bunker. I put two deep in my deployment zone, one near the back of the table in terrain and another a little further away also in terrain; both of these objectives are in cover for my troops and a fair distance away from Jon’s forces. I win the roll off for deployment side while Jon wins the roll off for deployment, he decides to go first. Jon deploys and only has one Razorback with a unit inside; the melta unit; the other half hides behind a barricade on the objective. Dreadnoughts deploy on a hill support with Razorbacks each side and Devastators while the two Tactical Squads deploy far back behind the Razors for cover. Jon has spread his army evenly and I think the flanks are pretty balanced, however the right flank with only two Razorbacks seems to be weaker

Post #250 – Battle Report – Goodbye Gaming Loft!

Post #250 – Battle Report – Goodbye Gaming Loft!

For quite a while now I’ve been lucky enough to have the attic room of our house set up as a permanent gaming loft. It’s great not having to put everything away after a battle and gives us a massive space to play our games in. However, all good things must come to an end and, since we’ll shortly be moving house, the time has come to say goodbye to my gaming loft. We finished as we started, testing army lists for a tournament. This time around it was Matt wanting to test his list out for Open War. Sadly I can’t go as I’m away for a friend’s stag weekend (the same one that pushed Blog Wars 4 back!). We therefore played a couple of 1,750 point games. Both gave me a chance to try some things out for myself as well.
