WIP Grey hunters…
Not a great shot, but highlights where I’m at I've been cracking on with my first squad of Grey Hunters.
Not a great shot, but highlights where I’m at I've been cracking on with my first squad of Grey Hunters.
I’ve made a lot of progress since the very early shot last week. At this stage most everything is base coated, still a few details to pick out. I’ve shaded the blue parts of the armor and the metallics. The … Continue reading →
It’s been a while, but I got back on the wenches…that didn’t come out right… Either way, I finished their hair, wood and bone. Also, the command group got some turquoise to set them apart. It is a nice break to work on a plethora of different models from different manufactures. Next stage is the metallics, pirates need lots of gold. Yeah, I know, purple isn’t a ‘pirate’ color, but they are going to be part of a purple force (for a purple person). MONKEY!!1 These ladies will be hanging out on the project table until they are done, which might be soon. Of late, I have three projects on the table (2 commissions, 1 of mine) and I cycle through them. It keeps my hobby-add in check. Until next round…be well and listen to Army of the Universe
Sitting around watching the dog chase rabbits in his sleep is funny and all, but I figured there were better ways to spend my time so with my cup of tea ready I’ve settled down to write this blog post. I’ve been working on the loose pieces of Titan armour in between episodes of Doctor Who. The missus, who is as far from a sci-fi lover you can get, actually started watching the new season and harangued me into getting the earlier seasons – we’ve been watching them together all week which is massively odd but I’ll take whatever ‘quality’ time she wants to spend with us whenever I can hey. Apologies for the crummy pics – needed to use the flash as it’s night and I have crappy indoor lighting – its washed out a bit of the blue – its a couple of shades darker than shown here. Its only the four panels shown that I have been working on – the main body armour remains untouched for now. I finally settled on a couple of metallic mixes I like so barring a final wash around the rivets, and a light wash over the Eagles, that’s pretty much done. I was considering taking the Eagles on all the armour plates up to a pure gold but think that would clash too much with the rest of the metallics. The blue is at the first base coat – Necron Abyss foundation which is the darkest I could get in the GW range without mixing with black. I am planning a 50/50 Necron/Regal Blue mid layer and then a light Regal final highlight/layer
This new video tutorial from David, also know as DavidVC04 on the forums are teaching you how to paint with metallics. Painting with true metallics can be a headache. Overdo it, and it looks clumsy. Don’t add any tone, and it looks fake. This video demonstrates a paint scheme with simple dry brushing and washes. [...]
Hello again everyone. I have been playing around with the new Citadel Washes and I must say that I love them! I recently tried painting true metallics with the washes and was quite pleased with the results. The washes are very smooth and low in pigment, so they are perfect for the job!
