I have been thinking about base a lot recently. Wanted to have a modern urban base or sort for my Sedition Wars miniatures. Been looking at couples of brands and design for base. Just too many to choose from. Then I thought why don’t I test and make a base of my own. I imagined my base having a steel plating flooring. Took some tamiya 1.5mm plastic cards and trim it to the size of a typical base. Took the base and scratch it on a rough ground surface to create some texture and scratches. Score a shallow groove on it and glue some small dot of 0.75mm rods dot to represent rivets.
Hi all In the conclusion of the skeleton archer painting tutorial we’ll see how to paint all the remaining details . For this we use the same model as in the first part, as well as the following colors : Now carefully cover the bow and arrow feathers with Dark Flesh, his quiver and strap with Scarab Red. Just another “inner ” part of the cover of a quiver with Regal Blue + Hawk Turquoise (1:1) All paints should be diluted with water until the consistency of thick milk ( not water). Do not even hope for covering all black primer with one layer of paint
A 5-man Strike Squad with Psycannon … to be mounted in a Razorback. Step 1: Boltgun Metal I toyed with the idea of using Mithril instead, but for one, I’d be left with nothing to highlight, and for another it’s just not grim-dark enough. Step 2: Badab Black Ok, maybe a little too grim-dark.
More WIP pictures for my Dwarf army repainting project. Unit of 20 Quarrellers, or rather 2 units of 10 with Musicians. Only base colours and a bit of washing on skin done so far still need highlighting and minor touch ups. Unlike the Hammerers, Miners etc these guys were not paint stripped before hand. I just painted over the existing scheme which was close to what I wanted anyway. Artillery bases need some drybrushing to be finished and I am going to create a flying cannon ball smoke effect out of the mouth of the cannon tonight. BSB and Thane have only had skin, green and blue areas base coated so far so still a long way to go. Army wise the project is moving along pretty well. Once these guys are done, and a Hammerer standard bearer, ill have a reasonable collection of units completed – Miners, Hammerers, GW/Warriors, Quarrellers, Thunderers and a big collection of heroes and warmachines all ready for tournament play testing in time for Augusts Karak Eight Peaks campaign tournament.
I’ve been meaning to do more of these short Step-By-Steps ever since the Frostblade and Fur tutorials, and what better model to showcase gold than some Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard? Step 1: Calthan Brown Basecoat This isn’t always necessary, especially if the area is small… but for larger objects, you need the undercoat. Gold over black looks horrible for large flat surfaces. Step 2: Shining Gold Step 3: Mithril Silver Be very careful with this to lightly drybrush over the model. Focus on hitting edges. Step 4: Devlan Mud Wash Douse it. Here’s a quick shot of the progress on some other Sanguinary Guard as well as a converted Dante (only really changed the backpack to match the Guard). Let me know what you think
A little known fact – I don't like painting marines.
If you were out at Evolution this past Wednesday, you saw me bring the Tomb Stalker out to play. It’s about 95% done… I still want to make one more addition. Unfortunately, the TS didn’t really get into the battle, (Stoopid phase out), but I will post that battle report soon.
