Battle Report: Daemons vs Tyranids – 2,000 points

Got a game in with Dave last night. Not played 40k with Dave for a bit, he’s been a bit out of it recently and has only had 3-4 games of 6th ed. I’ll be helping him out best I can with rules and tactics etc. Dave is also using my Tyranid list I posted recently

Battle Summary: Dark Eldar vs Imperial Guard w/ Battle Sisters

Battle Summary: Dark Eldar vs Imperial Guard w/ Battle Sisters

Going to be short and sweet this one. My first game of the year and it didn’t last long, my dice started 2013 strong; everything exploded! I played against PJ last night, be brought his Guard with allied Sisters and I had brought along my D.E. In the past my experience with Guard hasn’t been good when using D.E. Last time I played PJ against the same list I had a tough game, though I managed to pull out a victory if I remember right. As this is a battle summary I am not going to write out my full list, it's only typical Venom Spam with Beastmasters. If you are interested then here's a link to my list:

Death Guard Fast Attack

Death Guard Fast Attack

Next up in our review of the Death Guard, we have the Fast Attack section. This is an odd one for the average death guard player, the death guard did not specialize between assault and tactical marines, instead carrying a ccw as well as a bolt pistol and bolter. Jump packs and bikes were uncommon, but there were some in use at the time of the destroyer plague. While the idea of T6 bikes is tempting, it doesn’t really mesh with the original legion, so if I ever include them I paint them in my Red Corsairs scheme. Mark of Nurgle is honestly too expensive to take on raptors, the same goes for warptalons. So that leaves us with: Heldrake The Heldrake is an impressive choice in this book, and taking two of them is considered mandatory in a lot of people’s minds when it comes to the CSM book. Here’s the thing though, they are expensive, and you do have to justify their presence in a fluffy list. This is achievable, because though the Death Guard prefered footslogged tactics, they would never cede an air advantage to their enemies. Mortarion’s combat doctrine is nothing if not responsive to conditions

Doomsday/Ghost Arks and the magnets that bind them…

Doomsday/Ghost Arks and the magnets that bind them…

This is a bit of a cautionary tale; not because of the Puppetswar head-bike, which itself makes a wonderful Ghost Ark Prow, as you can see from Command Ark Charon, here: Rather, the caution comes from the other task he and his sister (brother?) ark encompassed; a magnetized conversion to Doomsday Ark. Choosing not to do as others have done (the magnetized

Curious Constructs – Proof that….

…Gravis is’nt very good at drawing… …on the other hand, Praetorian fans may forgive me for this. These awful sketches are shortly to be turned into a much more lovely 3D design by a far more talented artist, which in turn will be printed, cast and then

First Painted 6th Edition Models: Chaos Daemons

First Painted 6th Edition Models: Chaos Daemons

So this squad is quite obviously not painted. However, I figured that I would save the painted squad for later in the post. What you are looking at is the other half of the Plaguebearer box and the second troops choice I need for my 750 point Escalation League Army. The escalation league starts the last Sunday of January, so I figure if I get a squad done a week, skipping X-mas weekend, I should have everything painted on time.

WHFB Tournie Report – Vermintide Part 1

WHFB Tournie Report – Vermintide Part 1

Game 1 vs. Dwarfs (Matthew Hassel) Scenario – Dawn Attack First Turn – Ogres Grotgut Flesheater Butcher and leader of the Firepit Clan (so named after the Clan leader’s habit of getting blind drunk and falling into the firepit on a regular basis) rubbed his belly in anticipation of the meal ahead. The small things called Dwarfs took time to prepare properly, all that hair took an age to pluck out and scrap away but the resulting meal was mouth wateringly good. The more heavily armoured the Dwarf the greater the flavour too and these Dwarfs were very heavily armoured. All around him Ogre bellies rumbled loudly, saliva dripping from a multitude of mouths as his Warband readied itself for the coming meal – a meal that was advancing closer with every passing minute. Burping loudly Grotgut gave the order to advance; his salivating Ogres didn’t need to be told twice as the raced toward the well armoured snacks in front of them…. Grotgut Flesheater and the Firepit Clan Mournfang The rest of the Firepit Clan Ogres advance on their meal BA-BOOM!!!! A great cheer went up from the Firepit Clan Warband as the Ironblaster sent a cannon ball straight into the Organ Gun battery the Dwarves had deployed on their right flank. The advancing Mournfang quickened their pace and Grotgut ran to make way for them now the nasty Dwarven Warmachines no longer threatened them. Dwarven Grudge throwers responded in kind though landing a hail of giant stones on top of the Ironguts and the Firepit Clans Battle Standard Bearer – 2 Ironguts fell dead as huge boulders turned them into piles of goo.
