Hi ID/Mercer and what other forum names you might carry I saw one of your posts on DakkaDakka and found it to be quite informative and also spotted the section for critiquing army lists. Is there any chance you can suggest improvements to my assault focused BA List please? HQ Captain, Jump Pack, Infernus Pistol, Power Sword Honor Guard, Blood Champion, Jump Packs, Thunder Hammer (X1), Power Sword (X2), Plasma Pistol (X2) Elites 3 Sanguinary Priest, 3 Jump Packs, 3 Power Weapons Troops 10 Assault Marines, Power Fist, Melta x1 10 Assault Marines, Power Fist, Melta x1 10 Assault Marines, Power Fist, Melta x1 10 Assault Marines, Power Fist, Melta x1 10 Assault Marines, Power Fist, Melta x1 1830 Total So I have 170 Points to spend and I’m unsure what to do, I was thinking of maybe including a Chaplain but I’m really unsure, Or even adding more weapons into the Assault Marines. Thanks for reading my email, Kind Regards, Wayne Hey up Wayne. One thing I need to know about your list what you didn’t say is if you’re deep striking or jumping across the board. Depending on what you are doing you could add some more complementive units which differ from the way you are playing the list. General comments though, the Captain needs to go as a rubbish HQ. Add a Librarian with shield power (gives 5+ cover save) and unleash rage (re-roll to hit in assault) which buffs your army a lot and makes them more survivable. You can still add a infernus pistol if you want
Your Honour Guard could do with some fine tuning.
Having played against Space Wolves last night I can categorically admit I didn’t take enough troops, and was too enamoured with elites. Time for some fluff. The Space Wolves and Knights Templar clashed briefly in the Midenhein system in M41.997 over a matter of honour and misunderstanding. Knight Marshal Valeric, leading his own retinue to the planet’s surface was joined in diplomatic dialogue by Beregar, a Wolf Guard Battle leader leading his strike force to face the approaching threat of yet another ork Waaagh. The two leaders met outside an ancient ruin of a temple complex, in an arid part of the planet. Valeric had offered the services of the Knights Templar in aiding the small force the Space Wolf had under his command. Beregar took this offer as a slight against his ability, and spat as much to the Knight Marshal. Offended, Valeric instinctively drew his power sword to defend his honour. The massive space wolf veteran, even larger than the marshal, drew his immense axe
Musing on changing my army setup to something a little bit different. Since i’m getting rid of a lot of stuff right now I thought i’d give myself another option when it comes to my Knights Templar. Hence this list is born: When you need something absolutely totally completely obliterated: HQ The Emperor’s Champion Mardus Vow: Accept Any Challenge No Matter The Odds 140 ELITES Terminator Tactical Squad (5 man) x 2 Cyclone Missile Launchers Tank Hunters 275 Terminator Tactical Squad (5 man) x 2 Cyclone Missile Launchers Tank Hunters 275 Venerable Dreadnought Multi-Melta Furious Charge DT: Drop Pod 180 TROOPS Crusader Squad (10 man) 5 Initiates, 5 Neophytes Power Sword Flamer DT: Land Raider Crusader w/ Blessed Hull & Smoke Launchers 439 Crusader Squad (10 man) 5 Initiates, 5 Neophytes Power Sword Flamer DT: Land Raider Crusader w/ Blessed Hull & Smoke Launchers 439 The Venerable Dreadnought drop pods next to enemy armour, hopefully pulverising one first turn.
TWEAKING! Ok so my Knights Templar are coming along nicely, with my new glue having arrived I can glue away to my heart’s content knowing it’s not toxic so no family are going to be affected by it! Few changes to my army: taking a marshal. 3 wounds is too good to pass up. and now that storm shields give a 3++ inv save (see GW FAQ) he’s almost unstoppable! Ditching rhino and taking a drop pod instead. My recent game against a fellow black templar showed just how nasty a drop pod in the right place could be.
My darling wife, on advice from others, bought me a Space Marine Devastator squad for my birthday. Now, without wanting to be rude to her, right now Devastators are the most useless unit in the game……but I’m going to try and make a list that might actually compliment her purchase. Blood Angels Devastators are cheapest Devs, plus they get some cool other units, so maybe this: HQ Librarian The Blood Lance & Unleash Rage 100 ELITES Furioso Dreadnought Librarian w/The Blood Lance & Wings of Sanguinius 175 Furioso Dreadnought Librarian w/ The Blood Lance & Wings of Sanguinius 175 TROOPS Assault Squad (5 man) Flamer, Power Sword & Melta Bombs DT: Razorback w/ Lascannon & T-L Plasma Gun 165 Assault Squad (5 man) Flamer, Power Sword & Melta Bombs DT: Razorback w/ Lascannon & T-L Plasma Gun 165 Assault Squad (5 man) Flamer, Power Sword & Melta Bombs DT: Razorback w/ Lascannon & T-L Plasma Gun 165 FAST ATTACK Baal Predator Heavy Flamer Sponsons 140 Baal Predator Heavy Flamer Sponsons 140 HEAVY SUPPORT Devastator Squad (10 man) x 2 Missile Launchers DT: Rhino 160 Devastator Squad (10 man) x 2 Missile Launchers DT: Rhino 160 Devastator Squad (10 man) x 2 Missile Launchers DT: Rhino 160
