Army Lists: Tau – 2,000 points

Army Lists: Tau – 2,000 points

I am not a massive fan of Tau as you know. The only thing I can say I moderately like is the Battlesuits and that’s about it. The curved vehicles and shitty blocky shoulder pads on the Fire Warriors do my nut; I just cannot stand them. I think I also do not like Tau as I am not a fan of manga and Tau have a lot of similar designs to manga. Anyway, if I did Tau I would probably do something like this: I would take Farsight and add in four Crisis Battlesuit bodyguards; I’ve only added four due to points cost. I would give the Crisis Suits fusion blasters and plasma rifles along with target lock so they can drop in and unleash some serious pain. As a bonus I will throw in the iridium armour, puretide chip, command and control node and multi spectrum suite. Does make the unit very expensive. To help the unit survive I’d like to add in Shadowsun – stealth and shrouding is nice along with the 3D6″ thrust movement

Adepticon 2012, Part III: Team Tournament, Game 1 vs. Team Handsome

Adepticon 2012, Part III: Team Tournament, Game 1 vs. Team Handsome

Team Tournament Time! For the third year in a row I participated in the Adepticon Warhammer 40,000 Team Tournament, this time with a very different team. I still find it hard to believe that we managed to organize everything with even less preparation and motivation than we did last year, but in the end things turned out to be fine, I suppose. This year we decided to bring four different Imperial Armies.

More info on Killzone Evolution

More info on Killzone Evolution

Not to be confused with Special Operations Killzone; Killzone Evolution is a completely different animal of a skirmish game. It will diverge even more from the basic 40k rules than S.O. KZ did; it will add much more modern mechanics that will still utilize many of the basic stats/rules of 40k. I am currently testing out a non-phased, alternatingactivation turn system. Each model will have a set number of actions that theycan perform when “activated.” The initial results have really been fantastic, creating a really cinematic feel to the games while adding real tactics to thegame play.

Reworking the Blog; Finished: FW Eldar Shadow Spectres

Reworking the Blog; Finished: FW Eldar Shadow Spectres

Hey guys! So just a quick post today, I’ve had a couple of requests to get an RSS feed up for the blog, amongst other things, so I’m playing around with that, seeing what I can do. The RSS Feed for Smells Like Wargaming is HERE , so all you followers with Smart Phones or just like to have your blogs in one place, now you can add me! You can also see the layout of the blog has changed a little bit. Just something to freshen the SLW experience, as soon as I get more time, I’ll be fixing the size of the logo, as well as finding more buttons and things. Stay tuned, and if you find any bugs or weird things on the site, please, let me know. Alrighty, the fun stuff! Sat down this weekend and finished up Mike’s Shadow Spectres. BEAUTIFUL models, but if I have to paint another gem…what do you mean I have 2 more Wave Serpents…. I wanted to keep FW’s white armor, but opted for greens for Biel-Tan, rather than Myamera’s blues. I know the bases in the last shot don’t match the War Walker, the matter has been resolved! Got a 2 Wave Serpents and a Fire Prism to do, and the Eldar’ll be done! I also found a little time to get a project ready for myself, just something to break up Chaos and Imperial Fists. My Magpie friend ditched his new Necrons after his second game, so I decided that this’ll be a good group to paint up, play a little, then sell off. We’re looking at just under 1k points: 2 Necron Overlords/Lords 2 Command/Annihilation Barges Finecast Cryptek 24 Warriors 8 Scarabs (who needs 4 to a base?) 5 Immortals Should be a quick paint, and will be good to break up monotony a little bit.

The day before Games Day: The Tale of the Tables for Heroes of Armageddon!

The day before Games Day: The Tale of the Tables for Heroes of Armageddon!

Phew! I survived yet another Games Day! But before I start showing you shiny pictures of the event itself let me start with the day before Games Day in which yours truly overslept, the FOUR 3′x4′ Heroes of Armageddon tables were finished and then transported to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, the Heroes of Armageddon crew finally met in person and the miniatures finally got to see their enemies.. Friday, August 30, 2011 (The day before Games Day) It’s gettin’ there.. SNOOZE ! After specifically instructing my parents to wake me up before 7:30am, I ended up waking up an hour late! Oh no! And I was supposed to catch the 9:25 Metra train to Santa’s Brian’s little workshop. A quick shower, a taxi to the Metra Station and three shots of espresso from Starbucks (I was running on 3 and a half hours of sleep, you see) sealed the deal. Although slightly late for the party, there was still plenty of work to be done. Nothing major, though, just minor touch-ups where paint had chipped, pooled or where something needed a second, third.. or fourth layer of paint. Some watered down fancy washes were also applied to bring things together and under the hot Chicago sun they dried pretty fast. Too fast, even.

TauTauTau- New list

TauTauTau- New list

So I took a whooping last weekend in Springfield. Got tabled for the first time in a tourny in quite a while. The picture explains it all. I know I said last week that I didn’t like my list, but still….It got me thinking about new ways to improve my old lists. Pirahna #3? You are out. Seven pathfinders? You are in. Kroot hounds
