Well, day after the Daemons codex is out, I gotta play against them with my Space Wolves! We did 1750(usually do 2k but decided to go a little smaller due to time and he wanted to start slightly smaller). We rolled for all the startup shtuff, and here’s how it turned out: Mission type: Purge the Alien Deployment type: weird diagonal deployment that I always forget the name of No Night Fighting(YAY) Warlord Trait(Daemons): His Warlord(Fateweaver) causes Instant Death in Melee Warlord Trait(Space Puppies): Warlord and units within 12″ roll an extra dice when running 1750 Space Pups Rune Priest: Divination Rune Priest: Divination Wolf Priest: Runic Armor, Saga of the Hunter*Warlord* 5 Wolfguard: 3 Combi-Plasma, 2 Terminator armored, 1 with a cyclone missile launcher 15 Bloodclaws: 2 Flamers 10 Grey Hunters: 2 Flamers, Power Weapon 10 Grey Hunters 10 Grey Hunters: 2 Plasma Guns, Wolf Standard 10 Grey Hunters: 2 Plasma Guns, Wolf Standard Vindicator 6 Long Fangs: 5 Missile Launchers 6 Long Fangs: 5 Missile Launchers And the new Daemons consisted of… Fatechicken(rolled a 3 on Biomancy and Pyromancy, a 4 on Telepathy, and took the Primaris Divination power) Great Unclean One: Level 3 Psyker(Nurgle), Exalted rewards(rolled a 5 so goes back into reserve with 1 wound the first time after he dies) 20 Bloodletters: Bloodreaper(rerolls Invulns), Bloodbanner thingy that aids one charge per game 20 Pink Horrors: Iridescent Horror(+1Wound It Will Not Die), took the Primaris Power of Tzeentch 20 Plague Bearers: Poisen Banner(unit is Poisened2+[once per game?]), Plague Champ(got 3+ armor save) 15 Flesh Hounds Daemon Prince: Nurgle, 3+ armor save, Wings, rolled same Exalted Reward as Great Unclean one Whoa that was alot of rolling! having two MC’s that come back to life once is pretty handy, even if it is only with one wound! Here is how the board looked(Long Fangs on the hill anybody?). Daemons won first turn, took the side with the calculater on it, so deployed. Pink Horrors far left, Bloodletters to their right in between the two medium sized hills. the 3 MC’s went on the grey hill roughly in the middle of Daemon deployment zone, while the Plaguebearers went on the far right. The dogs went in reserve. I deployed my Wolf Priest with my Blood Claws across from his Pink Horrors(didn’t Outflank this time). All the Grey Hunters go to the middle or right side in front of the large hill thingy.
Getting an army painted is a tough challenge. You need a constant drive, motivation and of course a lot of time to paint an army; even worse if you’re painting a horde army! Now luckily for me I don’t seem to have a problem getting things painted. I just go on like a trooper. Here’s some tips I have found on the way to help you get that army done: 1. Break it down Don’t overload yourself trying to paint a large amount of models. Instead break down into squads or even numbers i.e 5 x Space Marines a night or 10 Termagants a night from a unit of 20. Painting like this will become more manageable and things won’t get on top of you. 2. Set a target Try setting yourself targets in order to progress getting that army completed.
I lol’ at this so bad: If you haven’t, check out the first animation: There’s also an animation called ‘Trials of Dragio’
Larry over at BoLS posted this, and it is certainly worth of a reprint.
Before I delved into modeling my Astral Claws, I first needed to get grips on the story of my army. I knew going in that Lugft Huron was the Chapter Master of the Astral Claws, and that the Astral Claws had been the catalyst for a major conflict between the Administratum and the Warders of the Maelstrom. I knew that the fight was related to planetary tithes, and that the Tyrant of Badab considered himself to be acting in the Imperium’s interest. As I found out more, I quickly became quite enamored with my new chosen chapter. Prior to their service in the Maelstrom, the Astral Claws were a fleet based chapter, and their specific founding is not entirely clear. The records of their parent chapter have been lost, so they start with an air of mystery. The money bet for the chapter is sadly that they are Ultramarines, owing to their blue heraldry, Roman aesthetic, and codex adherence. Some link the chapter’s Lion heraldry to the Dark Angels, but since they have no inner circle and don’t pass on the story of the Unforgiven, it seems unlikely they were a successor as such. Whatever the source material, the Claws at some point spawned a few sucessor chapters, of which only one is named, the Tiger Claws. The current version of the Tiger Claws paint scheme The Tiger Claws are an interesting side portion of the story, their role perfectly fits into the fall from grace story
As may or may not know, Games Workshop have brought out the sue wagon again. This time they are suing a company which produces an e-book which mentions the words ‘Space Marine’. Games Workshop have it in their heads that Space Marine is their copyright, even though Space Marine has been used in literature for a very long time previous to G.Ws existence. Here's the info:
…world slaps forehead. Some of you might have heard this already, but here’s a link to an article sticking up for a science fiction writer who has had her book removed from Amazon in response to a request from Games Workshop.
Maybe it’s just me, but when I see the Tyrant’s logo, I want to smash xenos scum. Last year, I had a moment of inspiration. I decided that I needed to either build a pre-heresy army, a new CSM force to use as my undivided army, or an additional powered armor army in addition to my CSM and Dark Angels. The reason I was only considering powered armour was that I had a few dozen marines worth of bits, so I had the core of the army already. Dopey the Lion isn't as inspiring
