Curious Constructs – 28mm Bike Preview

Curious Constructs – 28mm Bike Preview

Okay, it’s another Curious Constructs post this time, though work on the Vendetta continues (and is actually going quite well with most of the edge highlighting done, yay!). I’ve cut back on my own sculpting projects for the store at the moment as I’m busy getting on with other things, however, happily other projects which I’ve comissioned are starting to take shape! The first of these is a

Terrain Projects – Skullvane Defense Laser

Terrain Projects – Skullvane Defense Laser

Been eagerly devouring the new 6th edition rules and am really quite excited about it. One of the things I really like is all the varied new terrain options, which got me fired up to make some new buildings! A while back I got a great deal on the Skullvane Manse set, which I’d schemed on making into a defense laser emplacement. And a rummage through the bits boxes provided the basis for a big power generator and some various aerials.

Finished: Necron Overlord and Command Barge

Finished: Necron Overlord and Command Barge

Hey guys, So last week, Monster Rain from over at Table Top War came to me, asking if I still had some of my Necrons and if I could get him one painted up and ready to go. I, of course, obliged! Sorry for the pictures, but lack of a sunny day, coupled with an entirely metallic paint scheme, is a task in and of itself! The underslung weapons are magnetized for all you tesla junkies out there! And the Overlord! I stuck with silver as a cool compliment to the warm gold and red tones. Really happy overall with the project, and I hope to see this guy rolling around the battlefield! Die Vindicator, Die!! Alrighty, kicking it into high gear this week! Nots going on both commissions-wise and otherwise, so expect a lot of updates, pictures, and other things, both here and on the Facebook page! Granesh

Dear Santa, for Christmas could I have a viable Eldar Fast Attack unit?

Dear Santa, for Christmas could I have a viable Eldar Fast Attack unit?

Eldar, my first love of 40k and I think they will always be my 40k army of choice. Although at the moment I’m concentrating on my Skaven (Only 200 minis left to paint, errrr, yay?) I still like to read about the Eldar. One of the things I have read is that when 6th hits they will be one of the first armies to get a 6th ed codex, I would guess at this being a big fat rumour with little truth in it but I can wish right? Now I’m probably in the minority when I say I don’t think the current codex is that bad, its by no means top tier but I’ve got a list that I can hold my own with and I’ve won as many as I’ve lost. With that in mind calling this list ‘Fixing Eldar’ wouldn’t be right, I don’t know enough about 40k to fix anything but I can tell you what I would like to see and here it is: Psykers – The Eldar are supposed to be the most badass psykers around according to the fluff but in game they are anything but, I’m not saying they are bad but their powers are more suited to helping out rather than destroying everything in their path. What I would love to see is Warlocks and Farseers given a bit of a boost, how about making Warlocks around 55pts (the same as a Farseer) and giving him one of either guide, fortune or doom and then allow him to pick one of his warlock powers on top of that. Now for the farseers, if the warlocks are now being used for guide, fortune and doom how about creating some really awesome powers for the farseers, something really destructive would be good, some really useful shield power seems to be all the rage at the moment, Eldrad could stay more or less the same, a know everything farseer :) FOC – Most of the slots in the Eldar force chart are easy to pick from as there is only one or two units worth taking. Now this is true of HQ, Elite and Troop choices (is there a fast attack choice thats worth taking?) but is the complete opposite with Heavy Support, its over crowded to say the least, War Walkers are in my opinion essential, some builds use Falcons or Fire Prisms so how about moving Shining Spears into the Elite section and popping War Walkers (they have scout and outflank so they would fit there, maybe take away the option of EML and Brightlance to suit fast attack better) and Falcons into fast attack. Fire Prisms truly are a heavy hitter so they need to stay put. It would just help out with being able to make a truly shooty build.
