Tournaments burn me out. I enjoy them, don’t get me wrong, but after one I’m hardly in a condition to write-up cool reports. That being said, I didn’t do one for the previous month so something is better than nothing, … Continue reading → The post Tournament Report: Chaos Climbs to the Top appeared first on Creative Twilight .
Hey guys! So as I’m sure most of you are aware, today and tomorrow is our two day Warhammer Fantasy tournament Lost Souls 2013, run by our very own RTGamer! The event is in full swing, and we’ve had 12 players show up, most of them Fantasy players from the Denver area! Anyways, just figured I’d show off the finished tables, as well as the event in full swing! I’ll be taking more pictures over the course of the weekend and, being the painting judge for the event, should have results of the event posted tomorrow! Stay tuned to the Facebook and Twitter pages too for lots of updates! Granesh
I’ve mentioned over the past few months the spring event being held at Crossroad Games in Standish, Maine which we’ve decided to call Fratris Salutem. Well, the time has come to get the packet out there and drive some interest! … Continue reading → The post 40K Campaign Event: Fratris Salutem – May 18th, 2013 appeared first on Creative Twilight .
Back in January, I played in a local tournament with Deathwing, for the first time with the new codex. I thought hard about all the nice new toys – cheap Tacticals, expensive flyers, new toys for the Ravenwing. I decided … Continue reading → The post Deathwing – 6th Edition appeared first on Creative Twilight .
Hey guys! So GenghisCon 2013 has come and gone and, I gotta say, I can't hardly wait for the next event! I had a ton of fun running around, seeing new armies, new games, grabbing some swag, and chatting up some really great people the whole weekend!
Many are aware of Forge Worlds most recent massive project of providing rules and models for the Horus Heresy. I always was indifferent to it…until I actually read the rules! They are fun, competitive, fluffy, and (gasp!) they are actually well-written. If it’s one thing that has always bugged me with 40k is that the rules are pretty terribly written sometimes. For example, at the tournament I attended this past weekend I found out that RAW lets vehicles man quad guns…it was stupid! Whereas in 30k things are made competitive(ie, the Predator’s autocannon is 4 shot) but can also quickly add up in points( Horus costs 500!). The rules in 30k are very clear and I hope that GW can learn from FW in this area. Back to the subject, I personally am now a total fan of 30k, but there are still two main problems with 30k… 1. Cost This is always something brought up, usually in the same sentence, when Forge World is mentioned. They’re cost is high($115 for 3 jetbikes?!).

In what is surely a first for me, I have not only managed to meet my monthly hobby goal for the Independent Character hobby challenge , but I managed to exceed it an paint up not one, but 5 additional units! Okay, I have to admit that I have additional motivation in the form of our own escalation league AND the goal of having a 2000 force painted by April so I can play in a tournament with a bunch of my friends who first got me into the hobby some 20 years ago; but still, it is quite an accomplishment for me. Now, having said that, I now have decided to go a more themed direction with the army for the tournament (due to heavy, heavy comp), so my list will be changing…however, I do not want to totally invalidate my work for the challenge this month, so….
