Chugging along with the painting – I wanted to get a few things done ‘for me’ before I dive into the more mercenary ‘paint to sell’ work that I have planned on the horizon. There’s a mess of half-done projects and leftovers from prior armies that I just need to paint up and free up the space – Orks, Eldar and Chaos all will make their appearance over the next few months. However today it’s the forces of Mars once again! The Sagittarii are the heavy weapons teams of the Skitarii legions. usually incorporating some form of mobile weapons platform that bears the bizarre and arcane weaponry of the Adeptus Mechanicus. I went with a arachnid themed carrier to tie them in with the rest of the insectile models that seem to be proliferating throughout the army. Whether this will progress into full-blown tech-heresy remains to be seen, but as I have a model representing Urtzi Malevolus, Despoiler of Mars it’s probably a fair bet that there may be some dabbling in the Soul Forges in the future somewhere… With these out of the way, I’m getting stuck in on a unit of Eldar Pirates I’d kitbashed almost six years ago and that have been sitting on the painting shelf for all that time. Time to break out the weird colors for a bit! Purple and Teal and Orange and Green! It’s gonna be glorious! …Or is that hideous? Guess we’ll find out!
This will be a busy week for me as I finally start to paint my Green (Black) Templars. The models arrived late last week, so I barely had time to assemble all of them in time for escalation league…which went horribly for the nascent Green (Black) Templars…more on that tomorrow. I also have to assemble my next 500 points, so I am gonna split the work 50/50 so I can get caught up with the rest of the league members. This week I will be: Painting 5 Sword Brethren Terminators Assembling 10 AoBR Space Marines Paint 6-man Crusader Squad Short and sweet this week as I need to get to work.
Finished up the paint job on the Land Raider Spartan this week, gave it another light wash of Baal Red to darken it a little, and finished off the detailing and shading.
A beastman army devoted to the god of magic always needs more shamans, and I just happened to have this really old beastman lying around. Due to his antiquity he had to be a shaman. So I cut off the blade and gave him some bitz and smacked him around with a brush. He will get some brown grass soon, along with the rest of the batch of finished models from the weekend. (The quest to clear the Shelf of Shame is progressing well!) Until next round,be well.
I finished off the Nob on the weekend (the one at the front with Power Klaw and Pistol) – he came up well and fits in with the rest (although looking at the pic none of the base are the same shade).
Progress on the wenches, the main areas of their clothes are done. Purple tones were an essential for the client, so they will still fit in with the rest of the army. Skinstones, then leathers, brass, gold and metal. Then they should look more pirately. Until next round, be well.
