Have you at all considered using a 'water effects?' It's a product you can purchase at any hobby store or on ebay. The stuff works very well for Nurgle models, as you can produce some fantastic looking slime and ooze. Here's an example:
Ignoring the pustules, which are halved rubber grapes, you can see the ooze. It's the 'water effect' mixed with a tiny amount of snot green, something like 1 part paint to 100 parts 'water effect' or less. You can add more paint and make the slime opaque too. I was thinking that you could use this stuff in order to fill in those places where the model fits together.
