I haven't been sticking my nose in here and sniffing around here for a wee while. I like this one. The guy from planet of the apes is decent looking. I think his face could do with some more highlights. Ape-like folk tend to have all wrinkly faces. I think his face is too smooth. The metal areas are good generally. I think the armour on his arm is well done.
However those red areas could look better. I think that on the axe there is some lighter bronze close to the joins that connect the axe-head to the handle. It seems to show rust or ageing of the metal. I think that it is a good idea but badly executed. The lighter colour of this area sticks out too much and I think the axe would of been better off without it.
To be honest I think my favourite part of this model is it's base. I think it looks like a small pier near some water. The way there seems to be mud and dirt on the wood makes it look like the tide is out or the water levels have dropped for some reason. Of course there may not be any water there at all, but I like it when an effect is achieved that makes something look wet without it having to be covered in water effects or gloss varnish.
The small reeds an so on work to. They look like the kind of plants that you find in and around a river. Also the wood looks very good. The effect of making it look worn and old is very good. The wood actually looks damp to me. I think that's very good.
