1 - If there is no King to put there yet, then Yes
For combat at least, for the fist few phases, consider attaching your Prince to the nearby SSC so he can use his MWBD on it, and then in turn 2 say, move him to join the TG. May have to be earlier, or even later, depends how well the SSC does and how fast the enemy is.
2 - Yes
