Ok, I know there aren't many options for a pure GK force(only models I have) for 40k in 40mins, but here it goes:
Grey Knight Squad Alpha
Grey Knight Justicar
3 Grey Knights
Grey Knight Squad Beta
Grey Knight Justicar
4 Grey Knights
2 Grey Knights
I'll be playing in a small round robin style tourney later in the month against Tyranids, Chaos, Space Marines(Blood Angels and Space Wolves) and Eldar (could be Necron).
Ok, so there it is, I added the incinerators for the Tyranids, but I'm thinking it is too geared against the one army and will fall against the others. Apart from the lack of models, what should be improved?
why not go with a IL and some acoyltes and a warrior, give the acoyltes power armour and make your IL ranged with the warrior having a plasma cannon and your IL a Psycannon and a anointed weapon for the chaos scum then have a GK squad of 5 and give them Incinerators. That to me is pretty balanced.
nice idea but one major problem - IL's have 3 wounds and the rules for 40k in 40 mins state that ur allowed 2 wounds maximum.
what sort of ranged weapon would you suggest, I don't have a Psycannon model so thats that out of the picture.
Also I know for a fact I am going to face raptors and no daemons, also the possiblity of a BA chaplin....
How does an Inquisitor with Storm Bolterm, Power Weapon and power armour + 2 Acolytes with Power Armour and bolters with a Plasma Cannon warrior sound? That gives me 262pts to play with on Grey Knights, or I could add a Death Cult assasin or two....
I've been playing a 750 point force and it's been tough going.
If you're playing pure GKs, get as many as possible on the board. That's it for pure GK advice. No special weapons, just GKs. Incins of course against the horde.
Storm Troopers would be great to field numbers and some special assault weapons so you can get to objective(s), tie up enemy troops in cheap meat shields, etc.
I wonder if a Chimera is logical. It barely falls in the Armour limitation, and would be hard to take down from the front. Multi-laser is OK and the heavy flamer can be good.
For a 40k in 40 min game, all your GK squads should be barebones on extras. No psycannon bolts. <=2 Incinerators or <=1 Psycannon (too expensive to have 2) per squad. Get as many models into that force as possible.
If you can manage to pick up any other models, buy an Inquisitor and retinue and tool him up for ranged fighting. No plasma cannon needed, considering the lack of enemy armor. Just a couple of heavy bolters, a psycannon on the Inq, and a sage.
1 Grey Knight Brother captain as HQ 61pts
4 Grey Knight Terminators 184 pts
2 dreads (plasma cannon/power fist + Missile launcher/lascannon) + smoke launchers 276pts
2 squads of 5 stormtroopers (2 plasma guns in each ) 150pts
1 lance strike 80 pts
and it works too......
that was me forgetting that 40k in 40 mins is 400 points.... doh!! 500 point 4 way carnage games are fun with daemonhunters are ace fun aswell... you need no troops 1 hq and 1 elites choice so my 500 points was a cheap inquisitor, a death cult assassin and a thunderhawk gunship!
i agree with the bare bones GK, i would add some stormtroopers to draw the fire
