    Its been a long time since ive posted. I made a tyranid list a long time ago and never really lived up to it. Now I think im prepared and wish to truly start tyranids. I currently have a dilema and would like to know which of these 2 lists is better. One is more close comat oriented while the other is very very shooty and some assault as well.

    2 Tyrant Guards()
    --- Solid, except give it the statline Biomorphs as well, notably ToxSac and EnhSen, considering it's a shooty Tyrant.

    Elites:508
    2 Lictors
    --- Fun... Hit'n'miss, but I like 'em.

    4 Warriors()

    4 Warriors()
    -4 Rending Claws()
    -1 Venom Cannon()
    -3 Death Spitters()
    -Extended Carapace()
    --- I'd biomorph them to be pure shooters.

    Biomorphs: EnhSen, ToxSac, ExtCar.

    Bioweapons: ScyTal + DSpitter, 1 in brood ST + VCannon.

    They're as good shooters, costing somewhat less than Your current setup.

    Of course, if You want balanced CC/shooty, then the current setup is the way to go. I personally prefer specializing to either CC or shooty.

    15 Spinergants()
    -Hive Node Mutant

    -Hive Node Mutant
    3 Rippers()
    --- Pretty solid, though I dislike Rippers, and would drop them.

    5 Raveners()
    -Scything Talons
    -Rending Claws
    --- Fast spooks, but fragile.

    Since You have no other Fast, consider fielding them as 2,2,1 or 2,3. The more units, the more versatile they are. It would also require the enemy to divide fire to kill them all.

    Carnifex()
    Barbed Strangler()
    Scything Talons()
    Extended Carapace()
    --- I vouch for the VCannon as priority. Only against Necrons, Thousand Sons and similar would I consider the BStrangler 'Fex.

    Why? Because against normal opponents a BStrangler 'Fex is doing the same job as a Biovore, except worse.

    3 Biovores()
    -Frag Mine()
    --- Hmm... I'd rather take Poison as the best all-around mine. Unless You face troop-heavy non-Carapace IG, Guardian-heavy Eldar or similar.

    So, Poison for all, and I'd give two of them Acid as well, to take care of any enemy artillery that's not open-topped or troops.

    2 Zoanthropes()
    -Warp Blast()
    --- Can wreak havoc, if 1) You can get them close enough to shoot and 2) they manage to hit something.

    All in all, it's a pretty good-looking list.

    1- Biomorphed Hive Tyrant
    Adrenal glands WS
    Toxin Sacs
    Adrenal Glands Init
    Enhanced Senses
    Extended Carapace
    Scything Talons
    Venom Cannon

    Retinue
    2 Tyrant Guards
    --- Solid.

    If You want to go overboard with a CC Tyrant, make it so:

    Statline Biomorphs (even EnhSen)
    Winged
    Implant Attack
    2x ScyTal
    WBlast

    In this case, and with this list, Guards wouldn't be that useful.

    If You don't want to make the Tyrant Winged, then use the above suggestion, without the Wings and add FlsHks on the Tyrant and the Guards. It's still über in CC.

    All have a Hive Node Mutant
    15 Hormagaunts()
    15 Hormagaunts()
    15 Hormagaunts()
    15 Spine Guants()
    15 Spine Guants()
    --- Solid.

    I prefer taking Leaping Gaunts with ScyTal and AdrG I, cost the same as Hormies. Striking (and killing) first is in my opinion much better than being slightly harder to hit back.

    2 Lictors(160)
    --- Same as previously.

    5 Warriors()
    5 Scything Talons(
    5 Rending Claws()
    5 Extended Carapce(

    5 Warriors()
    5 Scything Talons()
    5 Rending Claws()
    5 Extended Carapce
    --- Biomorph them, drop EnhSen to get extra points.

    I would consider Leaping, but I don't think it is necessary.

    3 Biovores()
    3 Poison Spores(
    --- I'd add Acid, as previously.

    5 Raveners()
    5 Scything Talons()
    5 Rending Claws()

    5 Raveners()
    5 Scything Talons()
    5 Rending Claws()
    --- Fast spooks, still fragile, but in these amounts nasty.

    3,3,4, for the same reasons as I stated previously.

    I'd prefer the first list, but I like ranged capability more. Both lists seem solid.

    either are nasty, but id have to choose the H2H list, simply because i think that nids arent a good shooty army, there firepower is far inferior to, say, Tau or IG, or even SM and Necron. the only time id suggest a mass nid shooty army would be vs Orks or an assault Nid. 1 comment bout ur army, make it 3 guards, the tyrant lives 2 hp more, its worth it.
