Well, what is your's?
Mine is when (I play Necrons) in a 1k game my destroyers were killed on the first turn because I didn't realize my opponent (space marines) had scouts. I then had the worst rolls of my life for the entire match! (if i rolled 10 dice, at least 3 of them would be 1's). Then the termies DS'd and it was all over...
So... if I gave some daemons a matte paint-job, would they be "Matte Daemons?"
Necron Tactica: Flying Circus
Also a Necron player.
My most embarrassing loss was having my full 10 Immortal squad loose combat to a pair of gun drones and running off the board edge, causing me to Phase Out.
This is about equal to the time I lost to a 1250pt DH list then afterwards realising I only had 1050 points...
Heh, I'll go you one better..my Necron Lord veiled for a better position along with the 10 Immortals nearby and wound up scattering 12 inches into my own monolith...
I have three such tales of woe:
1) My Necrons engaged a force of Dark Eldar in a Rogue Trader tournament. My Monolith deepstriked into impassable terrain, and the rest was downhill from there.
2) My Tyranids advanced unopposed across the board for five turns, and then in the bottom of the sixth turn, the webway portal opened up and Dark Eldar screamed across the field taking every objective and obliterating my little beasties.
3) Another tournament, right after the Black Templar list came out. Having never played Space Marines before, I thought you could take Imperial Priests with Space Marines as allies... My priests got axed by the tourney staff, so I went into the battle a little light. The Dark Angels player lined up an impressive array of whirlwinds, plasma cannons, and other long range nastiness on his board edge. My transports were all promptly destroyed, so I footslogged it and made it about halfway before the rest of my Black Templars bit the big one. The only casualty the Dark Angels suffered was when their Commander deepstriked and scattered off the board.
I considered it a moral victory.
blood for the blood god - yay!
This is'nt really a defeat , but I was playing my 'nids and I DS my two lictors one landed on the other and died......
One of my dreadclaws got shot down and the others units got killed before they did anything... I didn't kill a thing.
The scattering into the monolith is the best though
Me, Ambivalent? Well, yes and no.
Well, this could take a while, as I have been playing most weeks for 2 years and have won a game once.
The most embarrasing time was when I was in a 750 pt battle against Imperial Guard. I was Space Marines and for some reason I had managed to squeeze in a predator, which got shot at by a battle cannon, which scattered onto my command squad, killed them all except one and the commander, failed their leadership test and rean 12" off the board in the first turn. I was lucky that I wasn't lasgunned to death that time.
The other Leman Russ then fired at the predator again and blew it up, and the explosion then got two fifths each of the 5 man squads that were standing either side of it (the playing area was about 2 feet wide). So by my first turn, I had 3 men left (the other squad had run away). They then got battlecannoned and died.
And that was my entire force (can't really call it an army) gone in two turns, and half of the "Space Marines"* had run away.
*Quote marks because they couldn't have been Space Marines as they all ran away
Losing a battle to take table corners, when I had infiltrating Dev. and Tac. Squads and started in 3 quarters, by making an easy chain for my opponent's Daemon Prince to jump to each turn and kill, among other errors.
Taking my Eldar army up against a 'Nid army. Killing all his models except for one
Genestealer. That same stealer hopping from one squad to the next, killing a few models,
surviving the few hits back, running over them, running into another, etc. etc.
I lost that game to a single model.
I might have cried.
Innovation suffuses this hobby like a tea bag in the boiling water of play.
Tyranid against Khorne Marines game, Wiped out entire chaos army then lost to a single Aspiring champion who would not die and managed to kill all my Monstrous Creatures.
Again Nids, Getting a complete wipeout on the enemy and then realizing that in order to claim the objectives I had to get back to my own deployment zone (Control their and your deployment zones) it was just too far to run, scuttle, fly by the 6th turn.
Cost me the tournament.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross the road without anyone questioning its intentions.
