Firstly, this tourny is held by a friend of mine and does NOT use official GW rules. Don't argue with me if you think its unbalanced, but the basic jist of the rules are that you may only have one heavy support choice. You only need one troop choice. I don't think hq's are neaded. Anyways, here is my list:
Cannoness: 100 pts
--Jump pack, Blessed Weapon, melta-bombs
Battle Sisters(10): 120 pts
--2 storm bolters
Dominions(5): 197 pts
--Immolator, preist, 2 flamers, Sister Superior with close combat weapon, bolt-pistol & melta-bombs
Penitent Engine(1): 80 pts
I have used this list a little and like how it performs. The only thing I am really considering changing is the Cannoness. She eats up a lot of points, and im not sure how much help she will be. I do need her to take out tanks with her jump pack and melta bombs, but perhaps some retributors would serve better.
If only I could sqeeze in some saraphim.
Tell me what you think!
I think the Canoness costs too much for a 500 pt list. My 500 pt list is led by an Aspiring Champion who costs about 50 or so points.
I thought so too, but at 500 pts she was some times the only unit to servive. She won many of my battles. Especially against Tau. She could use her Jump pack to charge ahead and get into close combat very quickly. Even if she was doomed, it bought enough time for the rest of my army to advance. She was one of the units in my army I could really count on, because she could destroy Tanks and charactesr alike.
Unless you really like your penitent engine, I'd say drop it and use the points to put some meltaguns in your dominion squad. That would help with the tank killing part, since your Dominions are mounted in the Immolater. With the spare few points, you might as well sup-up the cannoness to make her more survivable, since you rely on her so much. Give her a rosarius, maybe a plasma pistol.
PS: I don't have the new codex. What is a "blessed weapon"? I assume it acts like a power weapon or something...
PPS: Do try and work out a list that uses Seraphim. Their mobility and close combat ability will be invaluable in a small game. Upgrade the leader to a Superior and deck her out with meltabombs and the like, and you should have a suitable leader that takes the place of the cannoness but uses less points.
Purge all the heretics,
Kill the alien scum,
Suffer not the unclean to live,
And have a beer when you're done.
Blessed weap? Not 100% sure of my memory but it's a 2-handed, mastercrafted, power weapon with +2 S. Can still be carried with a plasma pistol but not be combined for that extra attack.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Cbrate is correct.
I didn't expect to rely on the Cannoness, but she did win a bunch of battles for me. The penitent engine was strange too. It did not always get to do something, but when it did it could achive a lot. One of the factors that won battles for me was that I had 2 vehicles at 500 pts. Most commanders don't even think about anti tank power at that points cost. If they did they usually only prepared for that one stray vehicle. Since the Penitent engine is a bigger deal, it drew the fire for the immolator. Its imposing presence also commanded my aponents deployment and troop movement, since they had more controll over the penitent engine then I did.
While I do want to squeese in those saraphim, im not sure they would do all of the things the penitent engine did.
Also, the dominion squad was purely for troop mulching, but the melta bmobs the Sister superior had allowed them enough tank killing power. Its power was that they could be mounted in an immolator. They could only fire 2 weapons from the top hatch of the immolator so I got two flamers. I didn't have any points for anything else, but if I was firing at tanks with them then I would be throwing away the flamer and bolter fire. I would have to change a lot of things, like the immolator turret would become a melta gun platform, and the Sister superior would be given an eviscerator(so she could take out dreadnaughts in close combat) I would affectively be changing their purpose entirely.
I think I will make another army list that swiches the penitent engine for saraphim. If that performs as well as this one, then I will post it.
I do intend to up the points of the list, because I want it to be eligable for a non-flash game. I have to add a troop choice, but some of the changes I will make are to give more gear to the Cannoness, a Sister Superior with master crafted storm botler for the troop choice I already have, and of course a second troop choice.
