Based on my idea to transform the Witch Hunters army list into a Codex: Adeptus Arbites I came out with this list and was just wondering what you all think of it..

    Inquisitor Lord w/ combi bolter-plasmagun
    (3) Acolytes w/ bolter and carapace armour
    (2) Gun servitors w/ heavy bolters
    (1) Gun Servitor w/ plasma cannon
    (2) Sages
    (2) Chirurgeons

This would be my Arbites Judge with his bodyguard.

    4 X (5) Arbites w/ 2 Grenade Launcher
    Chimera w/ 2 Heavy bolters

    Exorcist

Basically is a shooty army with a strong presence of vehicles which should keep still ableing them to shoot every weapon at their disposal.

The Arbites with their grenade launchers and shotguns should be kept out of sight, maybe behind the Chimeras, so that when the enemy does advance they can add their fire power up to 24". The grenade launcher could even help against lightly armoured vehicles.

On a modeling point of view I want every possible model to have the carapace armour like the Arbites and the shotguns (bolters are aceptable). Instead of the Chimera i am thinking of using the Forge World repressor vehicles with some conversion.

    Please have your saying.

Repressors definitely look better than chimeras! From a mutant killing perspective, this list looks great and the exorcist could take out most vehicles.

In the book Nightbringer, it says that the Adeptus Arbites have Leman Russes, and use Rhinos for Transport.

based on what Turtle Killer said, you could try using an IG army with the carapace armour doctrine and taking the inquisitor as an HQ. obviously this would need the opponents permission and so on, but i like the idea. a lot.

your way gives you hellguns on your troops, and can take rhinos, my way gives you lasguns, lower points cost (but worse BS), and no rhinos, but you can take leman russ. so in conclusion this isnt going anywhere at all, just my thoughts on the matter.

You could of course go to the great lengths of writing your own codex. Put it on the forum, ask people if they think its fair, and if yes then go for it! That way you can have Rhinos, Leman Russes, Carapace Armour, Shotguns, the lot. If you don't know of Nightbringer it's by Graham McNeill and its an Ultramarines novel, which outlines the return of the Necrons. It's quite a good book. It has a lot about the Adeptus Arbites in it, including one part where they act as riot police while the planetary govenor gives a speech. In that part they had Power Mauls, Riot Shields and Shotguns. At the end they are also in a huge battle.
Oh yeah and my names 'Killer Turtle' not 'Turtle Killer.' I wouldn't think of harming our cute shelled friends.

My only problem with the list is the 5 - man squads with 2 grenade launchers. It is a bit min-maxed for me, but I understand that the arbites run around in small squads fluff wise. The repressor is a very good idea. You can buy the pintle mounted heavy flamer for it too.

I have a copy of the journal list. It is very nice, to bad it isn't tournie legal.

I ha ve always loved the idea on an Arbites army, this way i can use a legal army list to make a really original army.

What i also was looking for was an army that could be competitive, maybe because of the number of models (or lack of) i just don't know.... what do you all think?

It is a challenge, but doable. The difficulties are, as you wrote, low numbers, and low toughness. The T3 is going to hurt. You have squad numbers to maneuver and confuse the opponent, but you will lose squads fast when they are fired on. Morale will be a big issue. Your anti-armor ability is good for 1K points. You are slow so a cleanse type mission will be hard to win. By concentrating fire you can drop marines very well. How will you handle an army like speed freaks?

The more I think about your list the more I like it. I am a big fan of the grenade launcher. You can spray much pain about the field. I am fond of small armies. My 1.5K EC army has 28 models. I see how to run your force. It is the lack of resilience and morale issues that concern me. I can't think of a way to minimize these weaknesses. Close comabt will be the bane of your army.

To be honest i never play against Speed Orks. My usual opponents (which my influence my army list building faculties) are 3 Biel Tan, 1 infantry only IG, 3 Chaos and a foot slogger Ork army (Chemicalcavemen).

My idea when playing would be to keep the Arbites Squads either in or behind the Chimeras and only bring them into play once the opponent transports are out of business and to finish off any squad that makes it to my lines....

If i get Speed Freaks i really need to pray hard to the emperor to get first turn and deploy as far from them as possible. The heavy bolters, shotguns and exorcist should be enough to deal with armour 10 vehicles....I hope....
