Hi Everyone, This is my first post. I have been involved in 40k since 1987 (rogue trader days) but haven't played since 2nd edition. Anyway I want to go back to my roots so to speak and am starting up an Ultramarine army mainly for tournament play. Here is my army list for you to review and critise.
Force Commander with storm bolter, power weapon and Term honours. Command squad consisting of Vet Sgt with pwrfist,bolt pistol and purity seals. 4 troops, 1 with flamer and 1 with meltagun, all have term honours. Mounted in a Heavy bolter Razorback with smoke and extra armour. 361pts.
Dread1 with plasma cannon, dread cc weap and heavy flamer.125pts
Dread2 with Twin Lascannon and missile launcher.135pts
Dread3 with assault cannon and dread cc. 105pts
Tac squad- 1 sgt & 8 marines (1 with missile launcher)145pts
Tac squad- 1 sgt and 7 marines (1 hvy bolter and 1 plasmagun) 131pts
Tac squad- 1 sgt and 7 marines (1 missile and 1 flamer) 136pts
Scout squad- 1 vet sgt(with bolter) and 6 scouts( 4 sniper rifles, 1 hvy bolter and 1 bolter) 141pts
Land speeder typhoon with multi melta option. 90pts
Pred Annihilater with twin linked las and heavy bolter sponsons. 130pts
altogether 1499pts. 44 models in army.
I am going to paint them in 4th co colours with the command squad being vets with white helmets. I am taking them with terminator honours and the razorback for fluff reasons and the fact that you don't see them often. I love dreads hence I have taken 3 and the typhoon is there to capture a table qtr (hopefully)if need be.
Even though I have been involved for around 17yrs, I haven't played in about 8 and never 3rd edition so please be gentle!

your predator is rather pointless, you've got an anti-tank weapon and a anti-horde weapon on the same vehicle (and therefore shooting at the same thing). much better to specialise - id take the lascannon sponsons myself. same goes for the landspeeder (i think, whats the other weapon?), although since you almost always want to keep moving and thus only shoot one weapon, its less of an issue. and your scouts might like to lose the heavy bolter, since sniper-rifles are usually used against the really high-toughness things that a heavy bolter needs a 6 to wound.
apart from that the lists fine and nicely balanced.... except for the three dreads, but thats a choice you've made consciously so so be it.

Chaplain is cheaper than an FC, and if he has a storm bolter, ok he gets plenty of shots but mostly they make their saves, if you give him a bolt pistol, he can still shoot some but he gets an extra attack in close combat, also dont particularly like the purity seals on the vet sgt, I doubt you will get the benefit
you like dreds then? not sure I would take 3 but hey, the first 2 are excellent except they need extra armour if you can dummon the points from somehwere, the third is less effective, the assult cannon is pants compared to other weapons options
Troops, you have rather underspent on troops, as a general guide try and get 40% plus of your points spent on troops, generally, looking at what you got:
Tac squad 1: fine, I would like to see 10 guys in it but otherwise fine
Tac squad 2: hmm dont like HBs unless you know you are facing guard, Orks or eldar of some type, the most common armies have saves of 3+ which rather diminishes the effect of the HB, and again I would like to see full numbers
Tac squad 3: dont like the flamer/ML combi, one is a stand off weapon, one is a close quater weapon. like to see full numbers
To be honest I would be tempted to put vet sgts in these squads, you can give them power weapons too, but the extra I and A are usefull, my nilla marines I field in 2 sqaud types: shooty (squads of 6 guys with a ML in it, transported in a razorback with TL las cannon) or assulty (squads of 10 guys, with flamers, with a vet sgt with power weapon or power fist - tend to be in a rhino but not always)
LS,: I would take down to a basic Land speeder wiith a multi melta, it can then go tank hunting without burning too many points
Pred- you got this beast a little confused, the pred anni (TL Las cannon) is an anti tank weapon, as such it should take TL LC as its sponsons, the pred destructor is anti light inf and should take HBs on sponsons, in either case it needs extra armour
One after thought, by toning down your HQ a little and ditching the third dread you can make most of the changes above pluss add a whirlwind

make the sponsons of the predator lascannons and i wouls have to day that the command squad is pointless. just throw it in a squad of marines and put it in a rhino
