This is the very first draft of a list im going to use in a 40k tournament in my local club at the end of the summer.
Where going to be using the new rules and ive got loads of time to buy models so any advice can be taken into consideration.
Cheers in advance;
Inquisitor Lord: Psycannon
retinite:- 2 sages, 3 gun-servitors with heavy bolters and an acolyte with a storm bolter. - 188pts
Callidus assasin - 120pts
10 stormtroopers: hellguns and targetors, 2 with plasma guns. 120pts
6 Grey Knights 2 psycannons. 225pts
6 Grey Knights 2 inncenerators teliport attack. 195pts
GK Dreadnought: inncenerator, twin linked lascannons and extra armour. 150pts
looks like a fairly shooty list except for the PAGK Teleport Attack and the Callidus. the inquisitor + retinue is well worked out, kitted out for shooting and no mixing of roles.
next time you post a list, put in the point values for each unit, so we can assess the balance of your forces. this list looks balanced but i dont play daemonhunters so i cant be sure.
ive edited it so you can see the points costs now any other comments?
You can't take a GK Dread without GK hero. It is stated in codexon page 32 (upper left corner)
Green Tide will consume You all!
I suppose the grey knight squads have justicars in them, that would fit with the pointvalues, forgot to write them in i guess?
Wouldn't you want to change one heavy bolter into a plasma cannon? I'm in love with those things. Ditch the acolyte and you're only 2 points away.
Also since deepstriking will be more common now, a mystic to go in the retinue gives you an extra volley of shoots against lurkers...
Also, since rapid fire tend to suck nowdays (especially overheating weapons!, I'd rather take meltaguns over plasma guns with your stormtroopers, put that's just a personal preference.
And as has been said you need a Brother Captain or Grand Master to take a dread. if you take the BC alone and make the inquisitor lord a regular inquisitor and take him as elite, you just need to save up 36 points more... I'd drop 1 psycannon and 1 incinerator. Stormbolters and NFW are good enough as they are so special weapons aren't mandatory.
Or you could drop the dread, beef up the GK squads and give metltabombs to the justicars. They may come in handy even if you don't excpect much high armor in 1000 pts.
Lotsa suggestion, feel free to filter out the good ones =)
I would get rid of the incinerators on the Teleport Attack; losing two S6 attacks and paying for the privelege doesn't sit well with me in a squad that's meant to assault (though psycannons are another story), and you'll often get assaulted after you deep-strike in and lose the chance to burninate anyway.
Contrary to popular belief, plasma guns (IMO) do not suck now. Often you'll be shooting at 13-24" and there will be no difference, and the overheating on a 1 or 2 if you rapid fire just counter-balances the fact that you can now do it on the move (so assault squads won't get the jump on you any longer). If you have Stormies on foot, I think plasma is still the way to go, BUT, if you can find the points, I think they are best used in a Rhino with 2 meltaguns and a teleport homer, for tank-busting and calling down precision GK attacks.
Aside from that, there is the Dreadnought problem, but I think you NEED some GK Termies anyway, so ... drop the Callidus (good, but not necessary), the Acolyte, and the Incinerators, and take a Brother-Captain as HQ with 3 Termies as a bodyguard (you may also need to lose one GK for the points, but its worth it).
-Drop the Acolyte, toss in a mystic and auspex to deal with deepstrikers and infiltrators.
-I'd suggest taking 1 melta/1 plasma, or a vet sergeant with a non-plasma weapon, so that if you have horrible overheat rolls, you still have some kind of special weapon in the IST unit.
-2 psycannons in a 6 man unit is a bit much for this size game, especially when that's an extra 60 pts. Leave the firepower to the heavy bolters here. GK with storm bolters are good enough for this size game, and they still get the full range of their weapons on the move, as this unit has to march. No more than 1 psycannon, if any.
Drop an incinerator. Like others said, you won't get to use them all more than once, if at all. I like to keep 1 Incinerator in my maxed out FAGK units, but if it's only 6 strong, you might be better off with just the NFW/SB combos.
Sorry, but GK Dreads/Land Raiders require a GK Hero leading the army! In place of this, maybe take a second FAGK unit.
Sorry didnt notice the GK Dread? hero thing but i really want to keep the dreadnought because i love the model so ive come up with this:
GK brother captain-61pts
retunite:3 GK terminators 138pts
retunite:- 2 sages mystic, 3 gun servitors with heavy bolters. - 151pts
10 stormtroopers, 2 plasma guns. - 120pts
6 grey knights, Justicar 2 psycannons. - 225pts
GK dreadnought:- inncenerator, twin-linked lascannons, extra armour. 150pts.
What do you think of this list? ive got 35pts leftfor wargear for the Gk termies and brother-captain that ill decide on later but what do you think of the list at the moment?
p.s: if you have any suggestions on wargear please post them in the thread regarding this in the daemonhunters forum.
Bad list for 100 points. Not enough models by a long shot. Look at your armor! 1 unit of 2+, 1 of 3+, 1 of 4+, and one that's even more fragile. And a Dread.
In a game this size, GK Termies are a horrible idea. If you won't bend on leaving the Dread at home, then take a brother captain with no bodyguard, and join him to the troop GK unit.
Myself, I'd say that a Dread is also a bad call in a 1000pt game. Dropping the dread, which could get knocked out with 1 shot, will allow you to buy another unit of PAGK. Dropping the GK Termie bodyguard will buy you yet another unit. You could have 2-3 large squads of GK, or 4 termies and a dreadnought, both of which will be the enemy's prime targets to keep them out of assault.
2x psycannons in a droop squad of GK in this size game is too many. Each one of those could buy you another GK.
What about this list ive dropped the termies and 2 stormtroopers to let me fit in a FAGK unit. m keeping the two psycannon just because the ammount of firepower that unit can throw out coupled with my inquisitors retunite is scary!
Brother-Captain - 61pts
Callidus assasin - 120pts
retunite; 2 sages, mystic, 2 gun servitors with heavy bolters - 151pts
8 stormtroopers; 2 plasma guns. - 100pts
6 Grey Knights; justicar, 2 psycannons. - 225pts
6 Grey knights; justicar, 2 inncenerators.- 195pts
GK Dreadnought; twin-linked lascannons, inccenerator, extra armour. - 150pts.
TOTAL POINTS = 1002
