Hi all, I've been playing with Dark Angels for a while now, and am starting to get ready some 1000 pt lists to allow me to play at my local shop in some tournies. I've got some painting to do which is why I am writing the lists first, so I don't waste time on models I won't be using.
So first of all, the list.
Interrogator-Chaplain: Bike, Artificer Armor
This may seem a huge points sink for one character especially when I am fielding him alone, but using his independent character status should keep him from getting shot, and once in combat he's pretty tough to kill with T5 and a 2+ save... I'll usually direct attacks the first round to kill off any power weapons so he'll often last the whole game unscathed or with one wound.
Dreadnought: TL-Lascannon, Missile Launcher, Smoke
Unfortunately I am quite sure this thing will usually be a big target and get shot to pieces but if it keeps the guns off the other stuff it's still worth the points. I also love Dreadnoughts, and find it hard to play without at least one.
Scout (5): 4 Sniper Rifles
Tactical (6): Plasma Cannon, Plasmagun
Tactical (6): Plasma Cannon, Plasmagun
The scout squad is a cheap cure for those high toughness monsters such as Tyrants, Carnifexes, Wraithlords, etc. that I often see. The two tactical squads are my usual cheap anti-troop firebase.
Fast Attack: (~250)
Ravenwing Landspeeder: Assault Cannon, Heavy Bolter
Assault (5): DW Vet: Powerfist
The Landspeeder pumps out great firepower for such a small game in a cheap little package while the Assault Squad is almost mandatory for me. Unfortunately my assault squad will usually be target #2 so their main goal is to keep the Chaplain from being targetted. When they get through they never disappoint.
Devastator (7): 3 Missile Launchers
I usually prefer the 8 man squad with 4 missiles but in 1000 pts this gets the job done.
Summary: 1000 pts, 32 models, 1 LC, 4 MLs, 2 PCs, 2 PGs, 1 AC, 1 HB, 4 Snipers
I didn't want any one squad to be worth double another, as I wanted each to be almost an equal target, and no squad to be easy victory points. My only real concerns are with the Assault Squad and the Dreadnought... should I drop them and add more firepower? Should I take a CCW on the Dread for some combat? Meltabombs somewhere? etc. Comments Appreciated.
its a nice list, there, and i can cleary see you like plasma (hell who doesnt?)
anyway, how you change that list depends on your playing style, do you like cc, or do you like shooting your enemy to death, nice list there though
Donuts, is there anything they cant do??
your devistator squad is quite large. since they cant fire on the move, devistators are very open while moving from place to place. i might replace them with a preadator and beef up the other squads with more marines, or remove all heavy support in favor of more land speeders.
A fool and his shoe are soon parted.
I agree with brother bethor on the land speeders if your facing eldar, orks, gard, dark eldar or tau you might want 3 land speeders with hevey bolters and assault cannons because its AP4 so none of those armys would get an armor save. + you get a 6+ armor save for raven wing
I play 1000pts quite a lot, so Ive a few ideas. Im assuming your intending this list to be a general anti any list.
First things first:
Things I always take at 1000pts
1/ If your in a tourney, get a whirlwind. Now I know people may ***** and moan, but they are really effective, and really multi-role, capable of hurting any army. And as youll probably generally be outnumbered, they aid speed killing hoard armies.
2/ More lascannons. I know, its only 1000pts, but you only have 1 lascannon, and thats on an easily destroyable AV12 Dreadnought. At some point youll come across a guard army, and realise thats major liability. He only has to field one Russ and you have a headache, especially as your footslogging. You have no melta weapons, and in my experience missile launchers dont really cut it against AV14, and youll feel the extra point of strength against things like predators, and against wraithlords. Also youll have better anti-terminator firepower (admittedly something you arent lacking). Id drop the scout squad, and either mix and match the missile launchers with lascannons in the dev squad, or take a lascannoned up predator (what I do). Youll find those lascannons fill a dual role against those monstrous creatures/wraithlords, and so make the sniper rifles redundant.
3/ If you have any points left over, more basic marines. 12 Basic marines can only benefit from a bit of beefing up.
4/ This one is sheerly a suggestion, buts its one of my favourite killer combos. If I take my feared tactical dreadnought "Albert, bane of the Dark Eldarâ„¢", I have one combination thats abolutely killer against anything. Stick a plasma cannon arm on him, and if you have the points a heavy flamer (not 100% necassary as youll probably be in combat in a mo, but sometimes a nice finishing touch). Order the forgeworld plasma arm(I did, its only a fiver), or convert your own. Now you have something to be feared in any aspect. It can kill power armour/terminators, it can shoot up light vehicles, or smush people with its power fist. And no person in their right mind wants to be on the receiving end of a S10 CCW.
Otherwise, solid list.
