Well, a pot of paint for me can last 20 models...

I think that it is for several reasons.

1st. People who follow the hobby have large armies. Large armies = books, terrain, paint, lots of car trips, models and glue. All of this = a lot of money.

2nd. A lot of people who play warhammer are Students, part-time job people or get money from their parents. This means they don't have as much money.

3rd. People are introduced to the hobby as an expensive one, and it stays that way.

    4th. People like to complain

Well I shall try to be good as I am low on cash at the moment .

First this is a hobby so it is aluxury and luxuries tend to cost more, look at any other hobby and you will find the majority cost around an army.

Gamer you need a system/Computer...Then you have to buy the games.

Collecting old stuff, I shall use stamps Hvae you seen how much some of the old stamps are going for? its insane...

Significant others: Yet another expesnvie hobby I have put more money into girls than I care to think about, they are an expensive hobby (so much warhammer money gone...)

Well thats my theory at least.

Someone has to pay for GW's offworld mining project and think they know how to find us when they need workers

    This one is easy.

Why? Because people, like me and you, are willing to pay that much.

The cost of 40k isn't that much more than many other hobbies; and even less than a good few!

    Videogaming
-$400+ CDN for the new system
-$50-70 CDN for a new videogame (most gamers have atleast 10)
-$50 CDN to play online each year (im looking at you X-box)

    Paintballing
-$25 CDN per day for playing if you need to rent a gun, 50 paintballs, and armour/goggles
-$10 CDN per day if you have a gun, paintballs and armour
    -$10 CDN/100 paintballs

As yoou can see 40k isn't the most expensive hobby we can find.

Were aboot 80¢ to your USD. a USD costs us 1.20$

As for the hobby costs, try for good box sets, ebay when it is a deal and converting.

    Anything to cut corners.

With my Tau i magneted everything on my battlesuits and Tanks so i could use them for any weapon loadout. If i dont need a Hammerhead today, i make a few changes and now its a Devil Fish. Thrifty, eh?
