There seems to be a growing amount of stuff that ignores Invulnerables to me, first Chaos, then Necrons. . . . . . then, well, not that much.

Do you think in 4th edition there will be more stuff that's going to be able to ignore invulnerable saves???

And do you think the Warscythe is cheezy for what it does???

i dont like the idea of things that ignore invulnerable saves...those type of saves are there for a reason, and i dont think they should be bypassed in such a casual way

there is also the calliadus assassin that ignores invulnerable saves and the grey knights psycannon...too many things do this now i think for definate

    Definitely.

    Shadowfield won't save my damned Archon anymore. . . . . .

If everyone starts to get psycannons and *****, we're all screwed. Big time.

I wouldn't say that warscythes are really that cheesy. Just look at the models that they are attached to.

    1) Pariahs. These guys have such a terrible initiative that they shouldn't last long enough against most foes (With an invulnerable save) to really matter. Plus, I've never seen anyone with enough balls to field these points suckers.

    2) Necron lord. This would be great except he only has two base attacks with an extra one on the charge. Then you get to his WS, which is what an average Marine has instead of what most lords have. This means that against anything with an invulnerable save he has to hit on 4+ or worse. With 3 attacks, this isn't too great.

Now, another point: Remember that psycannons and stuff don't ignore normal saves. They only ignore invulnerable saves. They are really targeted at laying waste to daemons instead of other nasties. This means that most things with a decent armor save (SM, CSM) don't really have to worry too much about them.

Out of all of the ignore invulnerable save type equipment the only one that is really nasty are the Ctan and the Ctan phase sword attached to the Assassin. Of course, for the Ctan version you are paying 300 points AT LEAST for this ability. Not so great. With the assassin you just have to keep in mind that, yes she's powerful, BUT there's only one of her. She CAN be killed especially with her only save being invulnerable.

There should be things that negate invunerable saves, Lord knows you get a 4+ invunerable for only 25 points or less in oh-so-many armies, and termies get a 5+ invunerable automatically, and assassins and daemons all have it, and plenty of armies have the option to carry it.

On a side note, a few weapons in the entire world of Warhammer 40,000 isn't a very "casual" thing. It's very specific as to what weapons can do this, psycannons/incinerators for DH, warscythe for Necrons, and not much else.

The only actual dangerous units with anti-invul-normal saves is the GK grandmaster, Gk termies, Ctan, and ...to a lesser extent, callidus assasiins.
Now look at all those units mentioned above: they are very expensive and have limited number of attacks compared to their point cost. Their survivability just doesnt make up for their power in cc (except the Ctan of course..but these things are expensive)
The only unit i would say 'underpriced' for their power is a daemon prince w/ stature and a dreadaxe.

A cursory glance at the codex suggests otherwise...
