What army do you feel is the most underrated in 40k? Space Marines, Chaos Marines, Eldar, Ork, Imperial Guard, Tau and Tyranids are all generally considered competitive, but what about the armies that many people consider a bit 'underpowered' or 'problematic'?
(This isn't necessarily asking which of these armies is the 'best', but which least deserves its reputation)
SoB for sure.
BS4 and a 3+ save for 11 points, plus faith points... bargain.
Although Dark Eldar are also massively underrated.
Just because their codex is outdated doesn't mean they are necessarily bad.
With the new rules for pinning, the Terrorfex upgrade and raider spam is now a quite effective build, but on the downside a lot of armies are mech-based now, and raiders are flying cardboard boxes.

Chaos - 11W 0L 0D
Orks - 8W 0L 0D
Tyranids - 8W 0L 0D
I voted DE but I really think its a tie between the them and SoB (as the current poll results agree with ).
A dozen Raiders... (then again, a dozen Immolators...)
Good points, although personally, I think the Daemonhunters have the worst reputation, or at least the most undeserved. In my gaming group they're kind of a joke, but when you take a close look at their units, you'll find that they're a solid mechanized army with VERY powerful MEQ troops and one of the best close combat units in the game (Grey Knight Terminators).
Sisters of Battle are indeed very cost effective, and faith is a very potent weapon. Dark Eldar have trouble keeping their raiders/ravagers alive, but if they do, they will indeed erase you from existence with virtually no trouble at all.
well i voted deamonhunters just because i think there units are extreemly underated they have possibly one of the strongest troops in the game if used corectly although i prefer to see them complimenting another impreial army than as a standalone army.
i personaly dont feel SoB are underated maybe thats just because i play them alot, the fact is unless used realy well i find that it isnt a great army although it has potential i feel and hope it will get the urgent touch ups i think the codex truly needs to stand up to certain army's.
i do think that the dark eldar codex is underated i dont see many people using it and thus havent realy had much experience with it and feel a bit out of my depth to coment but it is clearly underated and i would love to have more games against this unique army.
I voted Daemonhunters. I've read a lot about DE who, despite being neglected by GW, are still very competitive. A lot of people seem to know this, but I nearly voted for them until I considered who was on the list. Daemonhunters are well known, but rarely fielded - I've seen a lot of people say to players condsidering collecting DH that they should be prepared to lose a lot, be outnumbered constantly etc etc. There is a fellow down at my local club who plays DH, and while yes he is always outnumbered, no he does not lose a lot. A very powerful army that most people tend to shy away from imo.
I went for DE. Very underrated at my local store til a recent apocalypse tournament. I rocked up with a wonderful list full of fun stuff that's normally restricted and got laughed at a lot. Then I proceeded to take the tournament by storm and still have an unbeaten record in the store with my DE. They are rightly feared now.

WH, the codex has the best core choice and although it's filled apart from that with cow doohdooh, it can still hit hard: sisters with faith, Exorcists and cookie cutter canones.

Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
DH are by far the one that deserves the reputation of being weak, simply because the codex was written with gaping holes in it (which was done intentionally).
DE and WH (more specifically So are forces that are often labeled as weak for various different reasons yet both forces will annihilate most opponents when played to a reasonable degree - my DE army has a reputation in my group for being a real beast (I disagree, the list is good but because everyone plays mariens they simply cannot take it head-on without tailoring).
DH struggle to maximise on their strengths (of which there are plenty) in general whereas DE and SoB can, but at the cost of having an army that is built around only a handfull of core units.
Both necrons and chaos daemons get called weak only because they both require tactics that are entirely unique to them with no other force possessing a similar playstyle "natively".
One overarching theme for all these forces though is when you get a solid list they start to play themselves, being unable to break out of a strategic and tactical rut because of their often aged lists means you can have a major uphill battle for very little reward.
