Other (list below)
Okay, come January I'm going to have a lot of free time, and I just realized that I have an absolutely ridiculous amount of random bits. Most are either leftover from one of my existing armies (Orks, Chaos Daemons, and Ogre Kingdoms), or purchased in random lots on ebay.
I have to admit, the ebaying got a little out of hand, and now I have enough bits for...well, with enough creativity, just about anything. I have the hulls of several random vehicles, a lot of random body parts, tons of guns, and more.
I'd really like to trim the collection down, but I'd rather build something than sell them. I don't really care how effective they are, as I just want the challenge of building the army mainly from rnadom bits.
So what army should I attempt to make? Whatever army wins, I'll do my best to build, and I'll post pictures as I work on them. If you want to post what specific type of list you'd like (mechanized, horde, walker) feel free to do that too.
Thanks in advance!
(Orks and Chaos Daemons aren't listed because I already have them)
Well I think you should make Squats or Chaos Dwarfs. If you do either, I will buy it lol (especially the CD's!)

Squats or Chaos Dwarves?! Good grief...
Whenever I think of lots of random bits, I think orks but I see that is already one of your existing armies.
Let's look at this through a process of elimination:
Random bits isn't very fluffy for eldar or dark eldar as their designs as somewhat refined.
Necrons... can't see what you'd do with a spare boltgun or lascannon.
Chaos marines are somewhat flexible with random parts, particularly the Iron Warriors but I suppose you don't want to go chaos again after having gone Chaos Daemons.
*laughs at own thought*
Actually, I reckon you could go with imperial guard and build an insanely impressive guard with those random bits. Lasguns? No more, just stock up on whatever bolters and shootas that you have lying around, that'd be very surprising for a lot of people.
Since IG has a lot of vehicles and vehicle models, this would open up to a lot of customisation (perhaps sticking twin-linked lascannons on the sponsons if they'd fit or sticking small mortars on top of the tread guard... limitless possibilities).
In the end, I'd reckon that the IG army would have a theme of getting the job done by any firepower necessary... and I mean ANY firepower (consider shootas, lol).
But of course, that would mean buying lots of guardsmen in the first place to be able to attach those guns.

Necrons W68-D13-L10 (3rd edition codex)
Necrons W3-D1-L1 (latest codex)
Skaven still being assembled
That's exactly how the trouble started, actually. I picked up a ton of extra bits for converting Ork vehicles and units, but then found that I had far more than I'd ever need. I mean, I could make a ridiculously huge force for apocalypse games, but it just doesn't seem worth the effort of painting and basing so many of them (and I hate bringing unpainted models).
Now I need something to make to use up these countless bits, and I'm pretty much up for anything (not sure how I'd make Dark Eldar Raiders though...perhaps a bike army? ^_^)

Chaos Space Marines
- They can be really chaotic (nomen est omen) in bits and looking, also you likely have loads of marines bits (as they are in every bits collection on ebay). If You did not have any You can buy older models for really cheap.
- They can be used with your Daemons in standard...
- or even orks in an apoc game.
- You don`t have MEQ yet.
- They can be set up for both ranged army (again for a change) and cc army.
- Iron warriors was a great idea since You have loads of vehicle bits and easy to paint (IMO).
- You have to join us!
How about something different from Orks and Daemons? They both have their own way of playing, are generally combat bent, and tend to be more random than anybody else.
How about an IG/=][= mix? You can fit all sorts of weird stuff from the Inquisition books, get a consistent, flexible, and generally shooty army, and you basically can use 3 Codices in 1.

I agree with ME. I think the conversion possibilities for the Inquisitor's Retinue could take advantage of many of your bits.
(WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)
A Webway Portal Dark Elder army might be possible
You'd have to forgo Raiders and Ravagers as you mentioned, but if you could probably kit up
4x haemoculi (Using Urian Raketh, chaos daemons parts should make this possible, ogre too)
3x Talos (Would probably be a tad bigger then orginal if your using a tank base for them, but thats ok isint it? )
3x Grotesques (Urian gets you an uber ret, and spare ogre parts should be good for this
Then you'd just need some warrior spam, which you could possibly make, not sure on this part, most models should work ok if you bought some elder heads to stick on them.
You'd have to get alot of dance lances on your warrior squads to make it playable though, not sure how many points your aiming for =p but get like 3x Sniper Squads and maybe 1-2 larger foot sloggers
Then it'd be quite competative, have 2 hamey with Grots march with WWP, your 3 sniper squads sit at the back killing, then release 3x Talos, Urien with his Grots, another haemy, and the warriors (give Syriabates, either PW or Agoniser)...
Might Work =p
I would stay away from Tau. If you have a lot of elves, you might try and proxy Eldar. Space Marine helmets are pretty specific. Other than that... go for it.
Terminator armor going critical would be like Three Mile Island only very, VERY angry, and carrying a hammer.
LO rules in a nutshell: Don't post unit costs, be polite, rep posts containing of win.
