    Hi, this is my 1000pt list against the imperial guard. Im starting to get annoyed with the guard, as I find them the most difficult to beat with my Dark Angels, nullifying my army's advantages. Plasma cannons are overkill (they havent got anyone important enough to kill), and with me lacking a specialised hand to hand unit like veterans to knock him out. (I gave up taking assault squads after I lost the unit on the first turn the last 2 battles). Basically his tactics are.

    1/ Take 2 stripped down Leman Russes (battlecannon, heavy bolter), sometimes ones a Demolisher
    2/ Take 2/3 heavy weapon teams with 3 lascannons each.
    3/ Fill the rest of the points quota with men! Millions of the little guardsmen buggars, and give every squad a melta gun.

    Generally things go like this.

    A/We trade fire as I speed up the table. I stun one russ at most. He returns fire and knocks out 1/2 Rhinos.
    B/Half my army now footslogging gets pummelled with battlecannons. The remaining Rhinos discharge/are blown up by lascannons.
    C/The half my army that gets into assault gets surrounded with about 100 guardmen, and then fights to the bitter end.

    I regularly beat all my regular opponents.....except this one. Its starting to become a grudge match.

    Anyone fight imperial guard regularly and have any good suggestions? Its starting to get annoying.

    He totally outnumbers you i am guessing?

    Take many fast moving guys, maybe Deep Strike something, Get a devestator squad with all Lascannons and sheild them by a rhino when you are deploying(I HATE BATTLE CANNONS). Keep the Predator. Get lots of anti tank weaponry.

    Try one assault sqaud to distract fire from the rhinos, if you are rhino rushing is not working he must be one lucky roller.

    With my luck, if I shield them with a Rhino, and he gets first turn, I guarantee that Rhino will get destroyed. Its a small change, but what do you think is the better list?

    whirlwind is a good choice. land speed with multi metla might not be a good choice unless he puts his tank right up in front of his lines. maybe getting in cc might not be good as he outnumbers you. if you to make the game a bit more interesting, you could try using you rhino and tank shock his guardsmen. plasma cannons might be an over kill, but not missle lauchers. the frag missle has the asme area of effect and its good enough to take down guardsmen, and if you are lucky, shoot his battle tank with it.

    rhino rush is dead. assault marines bikes and close range fire fights are wut you should should go for twenty bolter shoots out of a rhino and no ability to screen can kill a whole heavy wepons squad. or a whole squad of infintry that you wont have to cut through. you might want to leave him a tepting decoy also

    I much prefer your second list, far stronger.

    I would like to up the Sgts in the tac squads to vet sgts, if he mobs up on you they could well be outnumbered and end up taking moral tests, stubbon really helps with this.

    You dont need to use all your tac squads as assult and even if you do - they dont all need rhinos.

    I would like to put a scout squad in there, they are, if anything, more effectie than marines in an assult, the use of bolt pistols to shoot before the charge and add BP/CCW giving them 2 attacks makes them lethal

    I would ditch the speeder- it is too fragile, if you must take one, cosider using it in anti infantry mode

    An I would look to spread som anti vehicel stuff around (taking small squads with Razorbacks with twin linked Las cannons)
