ok, my friend has a swarmy nid army, and im just thinking up different lists to counter it.(you'll see a lota twin linked missle pods, and thats why)

    HQ:

Shas'el battlesuit with Twin linked MPs, Shield Generator = 91 pts

    Troops:

3 teams of firewarriors, 12 men strong, bonded = 420 pts

    Fast Attack:

    ( 8 ) Gun Drone Sqaudron = 96 pts

    Elites:

    (3) XV8 Crisis suits, twin linked MPs, Target locks = 168pts

    Heavy Sapport:

    (3) Broadside Battle suits, Twin linked railguns w/ target locks, bonded = 220pts

    Total : 995 points

Strategy: Fire warriors set up in a wall fasion, send drones down the flank. Crisis Suit team w/ shas'el HQ protecting the other, but in range of the center of the board. broadsides behind the firewarriors. Drones harass the lead pack of nids, hopefully pin it, Crisis suits and HQ fire like hell into the leading pack(most likely gants), hopefully thinning them out, Broadsides shoot the rail guns at the biggest bug w/range. The firwarriors wait for the thinned out groups to come into range and blast the hell out of them.

Sounds like it would work, and even would do well against several different armies, you know? Well this forums is dead, and never has traffic so i know better than to ask for input of critisizm on it, so just enjoy

That army is pretty static 'cept the drones......so how are you gonna kill the things that dont move??? *cough*biovores*cough*

there gonna be behind terrain killing off everything from a safe 48" inches away Smart missile systems are the key here....

twin-linking your leader is silly as i THINK he has a high BS skill...correct me if im wrong.....so give him a flamer or something.......

tip: space out your firewarriors becuz those spore mines are nasty...........

im not much of a tau player but i hope u know that twin linking your MP's dont mean ur getting 2 missile pods...your getting re-rolled missed hits....take flamers...nidz hate them :realmad:

    A. the day i take flamers against nids, is the day i ***** away the points worth of the gun and model, gants can move 12(FoC) and assault another 12, i dont really think a flamers going to have a lot of oppurtunity.

    B. static, yes, im not going to charge into assaulting tyranids with WS2 fire warriors. and the Crisis suits are only staying still long enough to thin out the hordes of gants and genestealers, and then they are going to move onto the big bug.

I dont have anything for big bugs>? do you know what a rail gun is?(48 inches away? keep crawling, rail guns can get up to 72'' ) with strength 10, no armor save unless hes in cover. and since we dont really have a gameboard yet, it wont be. Did i mention there would be 3 of these such guns, twin linked no less.

I know what twin-linking is... I would just rather have MORE of a chance to hit something with one gun that gets plenty of shots, than two guns that MIGHT get more if i roll 4+ 2x in a row...

im not gunna twin link all of them ive decided though, im going to have one or two have the MP/Plasma Rifle combo.

Custom building a tau army to kill tyranid swarm-armies is like building an armoured company to take on an all-grot army... it's dopey and it'll suck the fun out of the game...

That said, watch out for infiltrating genestealers and lictors. Nothing frustrates a boring sits-on-his-a$$-and-shoot tau player quite like 2 squads of 6 infiltrating genestealers and 2 lictors popping out of the bushes. You might want some stealth suits in there just to reinforce a weak flank after deployment, since if you shoot at the stealers/lictors, you're not firing on the fast-as-hell gaunts. Also, flying tyrants, (a mainstay of any remotely competitive tyranid army) will ruin your day, especially if they're terrain hopping.

And you're not using any cover? Shame on you... then your deployment zones should be 12'' apart to even the odds
