This imperial guard regiment specializes in fighting accross the flatt muddy corn feilds of Ohio, a State in the great lakes region of the United States of America.
Right now, every thing has lascannons. This is just to show the maximum points cost. After a little play testing I will have things like Heavy bolters, rocket launchers, and auto-cannons.
Junior Officer, a Lascannon Crew and a grenade launcher. = 73 points
2 Infantry Platoons:
- Each has a juior officer squad identical to the one above
- Each has 2 infantry squads. ALL of which have a Lascannon and a grenade Launcher.
- Total = 518
3 sentinal squadrons
- Each squadron has 3 sentinals
- Each Sentinal has a lascannon and a hunter killer missile.
- Total = 585
2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks
- Each with A lascannon and heavy bolters
- Total = 330
Grand total = 1506
the total will drop far below 1500 points when the heavy and special weapons are exchanged for something other than lascannons and grenade launchers. If it drops low enough, I think I will give the entire army the mechanized doctrine. Failing the points I will atleast put the 3 junior officer squads in chimeras. This should reflect the necessity to move from one major important sight to another (since the only large cities in ohio are all more than 2 hours apart by car).
The sentinals are abundant. I figure they would have a better time in a muddy corn feild than a lot of other things, and they are dirt cheap. give them all lascannons and hunter killer missiles and you are almost garanteed to kill all of your aponents vehicles the first turn. In addition to this, sentinals may not be as good as dreadnaughts but they will beet blood letters without very much trouble.
Lamun Russ's are simply awsome.
The army list could easily reprisent any other great lakes region state, or even most of the midwestern states. For this reason I left the doctrines alone, so that the list can be tweeked for a given states style of battle.
What are you asking for here? You have not specifically asked for direction or advice, is this implied? Are you just showing off a possible future army that you have devised?
If you are asking for impressions I will give you my recommendations... too many lascannon Sentinels and not enough infantry. I believe you need at LEAST 2-3 more infantry squads as Sentinels die to almost anything after 1-2 hits and represent 1/3 of your army. I would exchange 6 or so Sentinels for another tank and more infantry.
If you enjoy winning games I would recommend these changes, as all armies have access to anti light vehicle weaponry and the changes I have mentioned will increase the overall effectiveness of your army ten fold.
IG since '95.
haha, didn't really have any reason for posting the list. I do apreciate the advice, but I think 4 infantry squads and 3 command squads is enough troops.
Like I said before, im going to drop a LOT of those lascannons for other things, but I wanted to write a list that was kind of a worse case scenario in terms of expense. Actually I hope to free up enough points from the lascannons to add a squad of Battle sisters.
