We've all seen (and a lot of us posted in) the topic(s) about what kind of person you hate to play most. Well let's twist it and tell about the type we LIKE to play against most.
Personally I like to play people who have a good grasp of the rules, not only of their own army, but of the game itself. I make sure to know the rules and how they apply to my army, and I expect the same of others. Granted everybody is a noob at some point, (how often can this be said?) but of seasoned players I expect a good deal of rules knowledge. If you you know the basic rules, you can tell if your opponents "special Rule or exception" is what he says it is. Granted you can always ask to see the rule, but after a while you can see G.W.'s reasoning (whether or not it actually makes sense) and will know when you have to ask, and when you're hearing the truth.
Also, when you're playing against an opponent with a good grap of the rules, a 2,000 point game can take as little as an hour.
1. know the rules
2. know thier army's rules
3. is a nice person
4. doesn't mind chatting, but stays focused on game
5. isn't a rule lawyer (at least not too much)
6. tries to win, but doesn't get mad/stressed
7. just wants to relax and have some fun ^_^
Knowledge of game and balanced, painted army, preferably fluffy. =)

I like to play someone who can enjoy the game. And someone who won't annoy me during a game. The last person to annoy me almost ended up in hospital. And that guy was a GW Manager. God I hate that bald *****.... :realmad:
R U 0K!??!? BUHHHHST WUUUULFFFFF!!!
someone who enjoys the game as well and who really makes it hard for me to achieve victory though he has to play fair.
he shouldn't be a whinner and follow the rules to the letter.
he should be thugh scared of fielding FW models as I like to field them.
I like an opponent who is familiar with his army, and has read the rules.
Also, in the case of leagues, tournaments and campaigns, follows the rules as laid down.
The maturity level of the gamer is a big issue with me also.
I have played 12 year olds who are very mature, for their age, gamers and there are 20 year olds that I'll never go near a gaming table with again.
"Every day above ground is a good day"
"Sometimes I feel like the winner in the Aztec Lucky Virgin contest"
Well, an opponent that knows the rules is good (surprise <_<), but players that helps me develop as a player, I think is even more fun.
Playing with players with tournament-experience (more than myself) is really rewarding, and helps you get further view into tactics and usage of different units. It's always fun to play with people you don't know, instead of just fighting those in your gaming-group, since they've got (hopefully) different experience and other ways to approach problems than those around you.
I've played in tournaments (not the grand though), and find this the best and funniest way to play since it includes all the mentioned aspects and gives you maximum challenge when playing your army.
I like someone I can just talk to, doesn't matter about rules, I like to teach.
I hate a game that just, happens, no banter, just move, shoot, combat, move shoot combat etc. I guess I just like to talk while having a game. Me and my freind were having a game and we were *****ing ourselves laughing on about random stuff, took 20 mins to get the game started and 3 hours to finish, and this was only 1000 Points.
Thats the kind of Opponent I like to game against.
I agree with space-cow... that game is supposed to be a social experience.

I like the kind of player that slaughter's my butt and when he/she say's good game they really mean it because they wanted to have fun. And I also like the kind of opponent who when I slaughter them and say good game they realize that I mean it and I just want to have fun!
