- Death Company
- Jump Pack
(Powerfists and Storm Bolters)
(Frag Grenades, Boltguns, one with a flamer)
- Heavy Support:
(2 lascannons, 1 plasma cannon, 1 heavy bolter)
Land Raider Crusader
Note: This army was purchased before I had even looked at the Space Marine or Blood Angel codicies, and is obviously very unbalanced as a result of that. I would like advice on how to make it an army at approximately 2000 points that focuses mainly on CC and short-range shooting with some heavy backup to take down tanks and other large nasties.
First things first,
Termys... blood angels termys are awsome, the only problem is in loosing them to death company. Thats a lot of points to loose IMO.
Devistators, I like them a lot... the only problem with blood angels devs. is they have a 1 in 6 chance of moving and not shooting I've had my Tactical with lascannon move 4 out of the 6 turns. Thats not very tactical on their behalf Dreads are better for Blood angels' heavy weapons, sence they can move and shoot... Their also Great in close combat when you get the charge. Nothing like a 5 in. dread with 11 str. (I know you can't go higher than 10, but what if )
I personaly don't like Chaplain Lemartes, He's goofy looking . I'd rather have a regular old Jumping Chaplain with whacking stick. But hey if he works for you, awsome! by all means use him ^_^
Tomb Kings, Marines, Eldar
furiuso dreadnaught is awesome
also for the termies, try to get assautl marines, 8 of them and stuff them in the LRC
you might want to consider a baal predator as it is a good tank for dealing with hordes of enemy troops
definetle an extra assault sqaud to which you can join another HQ, mostly another chaplain on perhaps a Librarian, which seems to be very powerfull with the BA
for the devastator suad I would replace their weapons with 4 missile launchers
So if I were to add another Chaplain as an HQ choice to this army, how would that work with the Death Company? As Lemartes would have his D3+3 DC marines, and so would the second chaplain, and all DC fight in the same unit, would I just have a super-huge HQ unit?
no you would have 2 unit I believe, one with each chaplain
Personally I wouldnt use a land raider in 1000pts thats 1/4 of your points gone instead of that you can put in 2 nice tactical squads
I think I'm the only one that noticed, but you need 2 troops choices.
Mad Props to Angel_of_Rust for the sig.
TROOPS 2X5 AT LEAST A MUST, USEFULL FOR DEATH COMPANY SWAP.
CARRY DEATH COMPANY IN RHINO TO GET IN CLOSE COMBAT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
USE 3 DREADNOUGHT (1 FURIOSO) INSTEAD OF DEVASTATOR SQUAD.
TERMINATORS SHOULD BE IN LAND RAIDER UNTIL ITS CLOSE ENOUGH TO KILL!
ASSAULT SQUAD WITH JUMP PACKS
BAAL PREDATOR IS A MUST TO COVER TROOPS/ASSAULT SQUAD
ENJOY KILLING !
All death company join into one unit. In 2000 points a LR would be useful but in 1000 points it is too much of a risk as it could be blown up in the first turn. Meaning you have lost a 1/4 of your army and the terminators will be shot as they walk. Spend the points on tactical or assault marines.
You need at least 2 tactical squads in 1000 and 3+ is best in 2000. Don't take special characters in small games, they really aren't necessary.
Dante XI, there is a button on the middle left of your keyboard that says Caps Lock, press it.
Most of these responses are inane because people haven't read the entire initial post, which clearly states he's asking for suggestions to upgrade his existing force to a battle worthy 2000 pts. Come on people!!!
In 2000 pts you should be able to field a Chaplain with DC (Lemartes if you really want) all with Jump packs; a full assault squad with a second HQ choice; a Scout squad (10) with close combat weapons; several tactical squads; several tanks (predator annhilators with HB sponsons) and some attack bikes.
Attack bikes are really cool because of their multiple attacks and great armor save, which they can use in CC to suprise an enemy unit who thinks they will just stand-off and shoot! Plus, they can move and shoot their heavy weapons, regardless of the black rage test. Only drawback, like terminators, is they can end up in the DC, which is a loss of points...
Not sure whether to advise the terminators or not. You don't really need them if you have all the DC and Assault troops, and HQs. I also think you get more bang for the buck with a couple of Predator Annhilators than with a single Land Raider. I'm inclined to leave these units out of a regular 2000 pt list and save them for special scenarios or larger battles.
Dreads are good, take the LC and CCW option, charge towards close combat, and take potshots at enemy armor along the way. I really don't think they get the +1S, +1I when they charge, though, like someone else mentioned....
Anyhoo, good luck with your rampage!
Purge all the heretics,
Kill the alien scum,
Suffer not the unclean to live,
And have a beer when you're done.
