Chaos Marines/Zerkers/Plague Marines etc
Sisters of Battle
Daemons (Horrors/Bloodletters etc)
Assault Marines (For you Blood Angels out there)
Well, I've been browsing around the forum and there's always alot of discussion about which troops choice is best, whether it's through personal bias, experience, repeatedly being beaten down by them or a combination of the two.
Here is where I, and anyone else, can post what they think is the best choice out there, from their personal point of view or from a retrospect of 5th edition as a whole.
I'm going to start the ball rolling, in my opinion, it's got to be Dire Avengers, a good reliable core, mounted in a wave serpent or not. Like all Eldar they perform a specific role, and they do that extremely well.

Pursued Guard Regiment Fluff WIP - http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ial-fluff.html
I'm gonna drop the Chaos Space Marine Bomb.
The standard CSM unit is a fantastic group of all around good troops. 10 strong with a Fist Champ allows you to take 2 special weapons or 1 special and 1 Heavy, capable of handling just about any situation.
My personal favorite however is the Bezerkers... a pinnacle of close combat assaultyness. They tear through other units like cleavers through butter =)
Of your list I would have to vote for grey hunters.
Grey Hunters are just rock solid and can be made to take any task. They are dirt cheap for what they get.
If by best you mean highest killing power I would have to go with death company although they are not on your list. For the price per guy you will be hard pressed to find something that can do what they do.
- You must set fire to water or you will be extinguished.
Guard Vets for sheer cost effectiveness and versatility. If you give them 3 meltas and a chimera, they can put out a ton of firepower from their tin can for less than the cost of regular space marines. It's no surprise that most competitive guard lists spam chimeltas like crazy.
Also, Necron Warriors, for sheer toughness and nastiness. I've literally had a opponent screaming "Why won't you die!!!" And he was playing Grey Knights, too!
Granted, that's what I play, so I'm biased, but still.
That's a good question. Most of these choices are fantastic, but for my money, the best troop choice in the game is Ork Shoota boyz. Up to 30 with great shooting, great close combat power, a buried powerklaw, and impossible to panic unless there are virtually none left.
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
Ork Boyz. Green tides are a beautiful thing, and I've rarely found an opponent who can cause enough wounds to destroy a few units of them. Lotsa bang for your buck! If you give them some big shootas they become even more versatile and pump out a tone of fire.
Blood Angels (W-D-L) : 6-1-2
I like the Chaos Space Marine as well for the reasons mentioned, however they aren't real cheap. You pay for their versatility. The Ork Boyz are strong, they can shoot and they are priced right. If Tyranid Genestealers had a ranged weapon, I'd give them the nod.
I think that point for point Ork boyz are the most cost effective unit out there. For a marine player that is no mean feat to admit.
My tacs are superb though and I will not have them hiding the entire game in a rhino since they have a job to do. But my tacs need to be kitted out for the job at hand and their effectiveness comes from the synergy of your list.
I voted Guard Veterans. You know why? **** you thats why! I don't need MEQ status to save me from death! All I have is 10 men, 6 with lasguns, one veteran officer clutching a plasma pistol ready for some rock and roll; three meltagun wielding maniacs ready to go AND A THRONE BLESSED DEMO CHARGE! ALL MOUNTED IN A CHIMERA READY TO **** SHIT UP!
"Anoint them in their own blood! FOR THE EMPEROR!"
