Hi I am new to Warhammer 40k and is universe. Iím still undecided about the race I would like to play. I was wondering how reliable and how this site works since Iím tempted to pick a race with cool model.
I was considering Necron, Orks or Tyanids in this order, but after looking at the forgeworld models, It does not help haha. Necron seems to lack the cool model but since iím a beginner and iíve read that they were obsolete, that they would get an upgrade soon. Have you seen those new orks vehicles and the Tyanids huge monsters... sob
So again, are the models on this site will be playable in the near future?
Forgeworld stuff generally is only allowed in Apocalypse. If you want to use the stuff in normal games or in tournaments, they must be ok'd by whoever you are playing or the tournament organizer.
Typically you wouldn't get to use forgeworld models and their rules in games under 2500 points. Some forgeworld models do use regular rules such as dreadnoughts, nob bikers, Tau XV8's and some people do choose them over the standard Games Workshop models. As for playable in the near future, unless its in the codex or planned to be re-released in plastic in a newer codex - it probably won't be usable in all your games.
Tau my love! You are back!
In the new Grey Knight codex there are pics of forge world models and the codex even says they're from forge world. Does anyone else see this as the 1st step to making forge world rules more accepted? I'm not saying things will change over night but as far as I know, since it's the 1st time I've seen forge world models in a GW codex. Myself I see nothing wrong with playing with forge world models, it can even add a little flare to older books or make an army stand out more. I would love to play someone that has a Necron Tomb Stalker.
I typically see that forge world models are almost universally accepted. The are just different sculpts, its when something gets forgeworld rules that people tend to shy away from it. No one has called me on having the forge world EML kits for my waveserpents, but people check the rules 3 times before allowing those new aspect warriors on the table.
