A few months ago, our local hobby shop ran an Apocalypse game and from there on I was hooked. I don't have a big enough army to field in a regular 1 on 1 Apocalypse game, but we play with 10 people at 1500 points each which allows me to play. Last time, I built a Silver Tower of Tzeentch and it worked really well. After the first game, our 40K players were really ramped up for another Apocalypse game, so much so that some ordered Forgeworld models. Since my buddy usually gets stuck running the game, I decided to give him a chance to play and I ran the game. I made all Necron terrain and we played for a tomb-world. This battle royale had two stompas, a Reaver titan, a Warhound titan, An'ggrath the Lord of Bloodthirsters and a Baneblade to name the Heavies. I typed out all the Strategic Assets in the Apocalypse reloaded book and made them into cards like the regular asset cards. I only gave each team 2 assets at the beginning of the game and each team could win an asset card each time they kill off a unit. They rolled a d6 and on a 4,5 or 6 they could choose a card that could be played during the game. I let each team place 3 objectives each so long as they were 18" apart and one was in the middle of the table. I also made 2 "Necron Warpshrines", one for each team. If any unit entered the shrine, it had a 2/3 chance of something good happen and a 1/3 chance of something bad happen. We had some Orks go in and they received a +1 invulnerable save for the rest of the game. Also, they counted as a building with armour 14 on all facings. Any penetrating hit roll of 1-3 was ignored and a 4 would stop it from working for a round. The Shrines were worth 2 kill points each in the event of a tie. All and all it was a terrific time and can't wait for the next one we play. I'd love to hear some interesting things people have done to spice up their Apocalypse game.
I want pics. That sounds amazing.
I can do that soon. The Reaver titan however was made by a 12 year old out of tin foil. The guy who helped me run it didn't have the heart to tell him he couldn't field it after he made an honest attempt to build it. The rest of the models looked good though.
I hope these pictures work out. This will be the first time I have put pictures on this forum.apocalypse 0611 (2) modified.jpgapocalypse 0611 (16) modified.jpgapocalypse 0611 (15) modified.jpgapocalypse 0611 (11) modified.jpgapocalypse 0611 (7) modified.jpgapocalypse 0611 (1) modified.jpg
The tinfoil Titan was made by a 12 year old player. We have to encourage children to do their best and that's why it was allowed.
