Hey everybody, i just had an interesting thought for fluff, about making my guardsmen a rebeling force that in desperation have called on traitor marines (not those sworn to chaos gods ) to assist them fighting the imperium of man. Is there any way i can legally bring Chaos space marine units along with my imperial guard army? if so how would i do it and would it be allowed for use in a tournament or such event?
It is legal in apocalypse games but not tournaments (unless the arranger agreed to it) of course you should always check with your opponent if they think it's fair ^^

You could try using the GK codex. Take Coteaz as an HQ and run lots of henchmen units (maybe in chimeras?) as your guardsmen, then have chaos marines/terminators as your GK's. Just arm them with the correct weapons and no-one will mind at all, infact I think that'd be pretty darn awesome. Coteaz could be some sort of traitorous guard officer and you could take a grand master or someone like that and use a chaos character model like typhus to represent him.
I'd love to play against an army like that - as long as its clear what they are of course. Infact I sort of want to try doing this!
Another option would be to use the previous deamonhunter book if your opponent will let you, as that let you take stormtrooper units etc, and then use CSM as GK's as previously suggested. Obviously you wouldn't be able to run that army at a tournament though.

You could hunt down the rules for either Cypher and his fallen unit or the DeathWatch Marines rules as they can be used in Imperial Guard armies. However these rules are quite old so many would no longer view them as "legal" but depending on those you play with should be perfectly fine in friendly games.
