Okay Eldar it is, are Rangers worth getting?

A buddy of mine is a dedicated eldar player. I always thought that a pathfinder squad was great for sitting in cover in the backfield near an objective. At some point I'm usually forced to go out of my way to swat it down. For their price, I never thought they were that bad. He felt differently, on the other hand, as he stopped fielding them.

Rangers...have a mixed opinion about them. Some players say they are totally worth it, others say they're too expensive points wise. I'd fall into the second catagory myself.

I have used rangers to great effect from time to time but all it takes is one flamer template to wreck them as their best assest is their improved cove saves to survive. At a base cost of 19pts I'd say you can get a lot more for the points. They aren't uselsss against tanks but you still need some decent rolls to do anything but anything above AV12 is out of the question. With the mass use of Dedicated transports vehicles are what you'll be shooting at the most. The only time I'd use rangers is ifI knew I'd be fighting a lot of MCs.
