Playing with an old army codex

Ok, so im not a fan of the new "Grey Knights" codex, there pretty much just fancy space marines now, Not to mention they made one of my fave things for low point games (daemon hosts) pretty much worthless, and nerfed the temple assassin now.

everything just seems to be becoming space marine mk3

Anyways down to business, I want to play with the previous codex, seeing as how they have made my 40 storm troopers useless.

Say I was vs'ing you, would you let me play with the old codex.

One could argue that because they have a new name, there a new race all together, and the daemon hunters codex is still current.

I still love participating in apocalypse matches is all, everything I loved about daemon hunters is gone, and I will move on to another race if I have to.

Personally yes, but it's a case of asking your opponent and official tournaments are out.

Not all the assassins were nerfed, the Vindicare has an amazing anti-tank rifle (only used him once and he averaged a penetration of around 20...)

I guess, in a way it makes it more fair for my opponent though, after going though the codex I have fount it has turned them into a steam roller.

I mean every grey knight having force weapons, that's bizarre!
Not to mention they cost as much as space marines.

I wouldn't mind, as in my games, there is always one thing I try to achieve: having fun. If fun means letting someone play with an outdated codex, sure. In a more professional setting, like on tournaments and such, I would understand if they wouldn't allow it, for the sake of simplicity.

Well, as you allude to in your original post the codex is now Grey Knights, the old one was Daemonhunters. So yes, a lot of fancy-pants marines! But as has been commented on, in a friendly environment, no problem. I'm in a similar circumstance with my poorly updated Sisters of Battle.
    (WH40K 6th Ed.) Dark Eldar - 25W/09L/04D (10,000pts) Sisters of Battle - 15W/19L/01D (5000pts) Dark Angels -Deathwing 08W/09L/02D (3000pts) Chaos Space Marines - on hold (2500pts) (WHFB 2012) Dark Elves - 21W/11L/08D (4000pts) Beastmen (2500pts)

Is it not possible to create an army from the current Grey Knights codex that doesn't actually have any Grey Knights in it? As in, the entire force being composed of Inquisitors, henchmen, assassins, etc. Or do you have to take at least some of the shiny, undercosted, overpowered, special space marines in it? (the last bit of that sentence is just poking a bit of fun at the Grey Knights, don't take it too seriously!)
